Germaine's Luau

We will be leaving for our 1st trip to Hawaii Aug. 12th and I'm "still" working on our itinerary! We'll only be on Oahu 1 Full day (2 nights). I had planned to do Pearl Harbor then the Polynesian Cultural Center, BUT after reading this board -- changed our plans. I understand Germaine's Luau is superior. After going to 2 web sites for Germaine's I'm a little frustrated. The 800 phone # is wrong. I understand reservations are a Must. We will be staying in Waikiki so I gather transportation won't be a problem.
Then we go to Maui, which I hear the Old Lahaina Luau is best. We have more time in Maui.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I love this board.
Marsha
Old Lahaina Luau for certain. Also on Oahu August 12th. We were going to fly to Maui for the Laihaina Luau. Good idea skipping PCC, I was just going to enter it under the posting "biggest waste of money on vacation". If you have a chance at old lahaina I would go for it. It was recently on travel channel as last authentic luau on the islands. A friend of mine who grew up on big island confirmed this for me. Enjoy.

Most eople I know prefer Paradise Cove Luau. $54.69 includes buffet, 2 drinks & Waikiki transportation
808-842-5911 or www.paradisecovehawaii.com.
Germaines can be reached at 808-949-6626. Their price is $49, includng Waikiki pickup.
Old Lahaina is even better, I've heard.

Don't bother with either Germaine's or Paradise Cove Luau if you can go to Old Lahaina Luau. It's better than both of the other two put together.

By the way, instead of going to a boring luau on Oahu, find yourself a table facing Diamond Head at House Without a Key at the Halekulani Hotel about an hour before sunset. Drink Mai Tai's. Eat local/Japanese snacks. Watch hula dancing, the waves, the surfers, and the sun going down. You'll be glad you never even THOUGHT about a luau!

Went to Germaine's website, fried chicken, chocolate cake luau food? Looks like your money would be better spent at Denny's.
