Georgia Coast or Carolina coast??

We are trying to decide wether we want to go to the Georgia ocast or SC coast. We loved Hilton Head. We stayed at Sea Pines and it was like a nature forest preserve. Any coastal plcaes like HH? A town with shops and resteraunts, boardwalk, nature paths, and more upscale? SOme that I heard: Cumberland, Dafuskee I sland, St. Simmons. We are in our 40's, and have a dog.

Well, my favorite is Jekyll Island, but it is decidedly NOT upscale. St. Simons is more so. Cumberland is deserted sans some campers and the Greyfield Inn. It's wonderful because it IS so deserted, but isn't similar to HH at all. There isn't another "HH-like" place I am aware of - which is good for those of us who aren't big fans of HH. One other option you may want to consider would be Amelia Island.

Hilton Head is so over=developed, I wonder what you really do like.
A wonderful place would be to stay at Litchfield (Pawley's Island) and then explore Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington Beach State Park.

I'll abstain from this one. If you liked HH, I can't help you.

St. Simmons has that same wooded feel as HHI and much less developed. I'm not a fan of the beach there though, it's not as nice as HHI.

Here is a link to the Lodge at Little Simons Island.

Another great one is the Greyfield Inn that Starrs mentioned. It's also more intimate.
