Georgetown boutique hotel help

On Hotwire, I found a 3* boutique hotel with restaurant and fitness center for $65 on 4/26. Does anyone know what hotel this might be? I'll be travelling alone and without a car and want to be reasonably sure its a safe area and not too incovenient. Thanks for any help.

Have you checked the forums at www.betterbidding.com to see what hotels they have listed for that area?

Also, maybe it's just me, but where is Georgetown? Do you mean Georgetown University? A quick yahoo search showed Georgetown in several states. :)

That's Georgetown in Washington DC. Went to the hotwire forum website but couldn't find the hotel in the known list but asked for ID help. Thanks for the advice.

I was just at a wonderful event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown. They have an excellent restaurant and a fitness center...if that is what you found? It sounds great. But to be honest, Georgetown is EXTREMELY safe and I don't think you need to worry about that. As far a convenience? there are buses you can take, and cabs aren't really that expensive, but the Metro doesn't stop anywhere near Georgetown. Still, if you are a "walker" you can walk along the waterfront over toward the Tidal Basin and the monuments, even to the Smithsonian area. You may want to cab it back from there :-) depending on the weather and how tired you are!

The Four Seasons is a 5 star hotel, so that would not be it. It could be one of the following:

Georgetown Inn
Hotel Monticello
Savoy Suites

Because the fitness center is on-site, I am guessing it is the Georgetown Inn rather than the Monticello, although it could be the Savoy Suites. The Georgetown in is a nice hotel in a very good location for shopping and restaurants in Georgetown. The Savoy Suites would be fine but it is a little north and out of the action. Of the two, I would prefer the Georgetown Inn and would describe that as a "boutique" as opposed to the Savoy which is a high-rise with over 100 rooms. Does the description tell you whether some rooms have kitchenettes? If so, then it is the Savoy Suites.

A couple of chain hotels it could be (but seems unlikely from the description as a boutique hotel)

Marriott Georgetown University Conference Center
Holiday Inn Georgetown

Sorry I don't know the websites for any of the above, but I am sure you can find them pretty easily. You should also check biddingfortravel.com which is much more savvy on hotwire guessing. . ..

While you are there, check out Dumbarton Oaks public garden. It is wonderful!
