Georgetown

Georgetown is my favorite mountain town in Colorado. The main street has such great shops, and there are really nice restaurants. The train is tons of fun for little kids, and doesn't take all day. Be sure to get a good seat in one of the open cars - but not near the front of the train, or your face will be black from all the soot!

Yes, I agree happy train. Georgetown has beautiful scenery and you are not kidding about the soot from the train!!! I only wished I had known about it when we rode in last June, sprayed a fine mist all over my souvenir t-shirt and cap. They told me to use Dawn dish soap to get it out. Other than that, it is worth the drive.

Is it worth taking the train if we don't have children with us?

My husband and I took it several years ago (no children with us). It was fun plus didn't take long. Trips begin May 24--and they are taking reservations now.

Cool idea. We stopped in Idaho Springs at the gold mine in February with our grands. We didn't have time to tour.
I'll google for the railroad, but any website, in case I don't find it?
