We saw him in Reno last summer. I'm a long-time Carlin fan but he's gotten bitter and hateful in his old age. If you go see him, I'll be interested to hear if he's changed his act since 9/11. He went on and on last year about how he enjoys catastrophes and lots of people being killed.

That is awful!! the one we saw was Aug of 2001,and he did pretty much all the material that is on HBO-a lot about men talking on cell phones, cigar smokers, drivers of SUV's and his usual making fun of things. He is abrasive, that's for sure!

I saw him a few years ago. The tickets were comped and I really wasn't too jazzed to go but I was pleasantly surprised. I thought he was very funny and clever. His brand of humor isn't for everyone but I thought he was very good.

You have to like Carlin. He's an urban red-neck who has shifted way over on the spectrum between stand-up comedian to social critic. He's an independent thinker with ideas that are sometimes libertarian, sometimes liberal, and sometimes just flat curmudgeon.

His most recent recording (2000, I think) includes a chillingly predictive discussion of airport security and terrorism -- almost as if he had a crystal ball (and I'd bet he'd make a crude pun on that one).

Expect some silliness but also expect a lot of opinion about just how nuts the world has become. I happen to agree that the world has become nuts, but I don't always agree with Carlin as to why. If you want to hear pleasant things that don't upset you too much, don't go. If you want to be made to laugh or think about unpleasant things that might not be in agreement with how you see things, you'll enjoy it.
