Geocaching?

Good evening (er, good morning)!

Has anyone tried geocaching? I guess its been around for a while but the Travel Channel (I think) just had a special on it a day or so ago-it seems like fun!

Just wondering…

We've been Geocaching for over three years and have a great time. It's a rare activity that our teenage kids will do with us. We combine caching with our vacations and have found caches in 24 states. Check it out at www.geocaching.com.

We set up a geocache. It was easy to do and it's fun to get an email from the people that visit it. We've also visited several others. It's fun and often takes you off the beaten path.

We used to do it a lot, even placed our own cache here in NYC! It's fun and is great for a nice day when you're out of ideas for something to do.

Another thing to do that is fun is letterboxing. Its a low tech geocaching type search for a box. No equipment but a compass, notebook and rubber stamp and stamp pad necessary. website is letterbox.org

For those of you who (like me) don't know what the devil geocaching is:

Wikipedia to the rescue:

Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "treasure", usually toys or trinkets of little monetary value.

Thanks JAGIRL! I was wondering what it was and hated to ask and seem like the only one who didn't know what it was.

Sounds like fun!
