Gaylord Palms
 

Can anyone give a review of this hotel? Their web site makes it look beautiful. Price is reasonable for our budget. How is transportation to Disney Parks and Universal? Pool and hot tub? Any advice would be great!

The Gaylord Palms is known as a "Meetings and Convention" hotel. It is very nice, but probably will be full of conventioneers.

Check out www.tripadvisor.com and www.biddingfortravel.com under the Florida hotels link for reviews. I'm thinking of trying to priceline it for my parents vacation. People have been getting the hotel for around $90-95 night. I agree it looks gorgeous & from what I've read there's been only one neg. review.

Thanks! I'll try those web sites. I've never tried priceline before. I'm afraid I'll get stuck with something not all that nice. I know that you can pick the # of stars and location. Does anyone have any other advice on priceline?

We strolled around the Gaylord Palms property this past summer while in Orlando. It is much more elegant and "adult" looking than many other Disney area resorts. It didn't seem at all suitable for families, but fine for couples. I never saw the rooms, but the property had a sophisticated feel to it. There were two pools. One was just a big rectangle and the other had a big octopus sliding board that was obviously more for the kids.

If you go to biddingfortravel.com you can see which hotels you'd get by indicating the number of stars. If you are not willing to take some of the hotels for a particular star category either change star categories or don't use priceline. I've found that for the star level I've chosen the hotels are comparable. Bidding for travel is a must read before you use priceline. good luck!!!!!

When using priceline a hotel will choose a particular dollar amount they will accept. If you look at Florida for example you'll be able to pretty much tell the exact hotel for the $. The only hotel I've seen come up in the $90 and up category is the Gaylord Palms. If you choose to bid you may want to look at hotel occupancy for your timeframe at the GP. If you don't get the GP for some reason I think you'll probably end up with Marriott Orland World or the WDW Dolphin & Swan hotels. But I would start at $90 to ensure the best chances.

Oops I meant to tell you all this info is avail. on the above mentioned website - www.biddingfortravel.com. With the economy slump one is able to get terrific deals at 4 & 5 star hotels.

February can be iffy but it can also be sunshine and warmth. Like anything else you take your chances.<BR><BR>We've been going to Florida for the last 8 years in February and had bad weather in just two of those years.<BR><BR>From the sound of that you've got good chances.
