GATLINBURG RESORT
What is the best resort in Gatlinburg? We want to stay in a hotel downtown, not a cabin.

Susan

I would go with either Riverhouse at the Park or Riverhouse Motor Lodge. There's also a new Clarion. Best Western Zoders is also nice. You can look these up under Gatlinburg.com.

Thanks Kelli

We stayed at the Summit in Gatlinburg which were condos at the top of the mountain. The prices were good and the condos were pretty big - beautiful view. They also have an indoor and outdoor pool. You can checkout their website: www.gatlinburgsummit.com

Hi Susan,
My recommendation is always the Riverhouse Motor Lodge....but you said resort in your header, and Riverhouse is no resort. You will have to stay out of town if you're looking for resorts only.

Hi Susan,

While not a resort, my favorite place to stay is Bent Creek on hwy.321, about 15 minutes out of downtown. In fact, I will be staying there in mid-June. It is on a Gary Player-designed golf course and is still in Gatlinburg city limits. If you look on a map, it is toward the town of Cosby.

The website to this place is:
http://www.sunterra.com/resorts/regions/resort.asp?resort_code=BCG®ion=Midsouth

The motels that I like the best in town are Zoder's, Carr's, and Brookside. I like their location if you are staying in town. Carr's and Brookside are on a nice peaceful stream, and are actually right across the water from each other.

The Summit might be the closest thing to a "resort" in Gatlinburg, although I don't particularly care for it.

I hope you have a wonderful trip to the Great Smokey Mountains. Post if you have any more questions as I am quite familiar with the city and the National Park.

Happy Trails,
Paul
Thanks for everyones replies! I really appreciate it!

I love Tree Tops. It is a timeshare resort so I don't know if they have rentals. It is just out of the hustle and bustle but a good location. Nice quiet place and nice size. Has indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, bbq grills and picinic tables and a babbling brook. Good Luck and enjoy!

Susan, you may want to check out Gatlinburg a little more before you decide to visit. It's a little to "cracker" if you know what I mean. Kind of like Branson but without shoes.

Dear Tracey,
Gatlinburg is actually a wonderful place to visit. While downtown is truly a "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" in and of itself, the town has a rich cultural heritage and some wonderful 'hidden' things to do too. The Smoky Mountains are part of THE busiest National Park in the entire country. That many people can't be that entirely 'crackers.' Perhaps "Smokey Fountain" needs to get out of the fudge shops.

Happy Trails,
Paul
