We went last fall and stayed at "Dancing Bear Lodge" on the Townsend side of the Park. It was absolutely beautiful with a free breakfast and some really good shopping at the base of the hill where you drive up to the lodge. We stayed in a one bedroom cabin with a hot tub and it was around $200.00 but worth every penny. What they call a "one bedroom" was actually a large beautiful room with great leather chairs, a huge fireplace and a king bed. Being from AZ I thought one bedroom meant with a door!!! I would absolutely recommend it and will probably stay again this spring. There are also "lodge" rooms that aren't as expensive. It is pretty close to the "Cades Cove" entrance to the park. We got up before dawn and were in the park at daybreak. It was so beautiful, saw deer, bear (a mom and babies)turkey, fox and many more. It is probably about 45 minutes at least up the mountain from Dancing Bear although the folks at the lodge could tell you better. I was half asleep!!:) Hope that helps.
