Furnace Creek Inn or Ranch

I am just trying to decide if the Inn is worth the extra money. It is hard to tell based on the reviews because they are combined. First hand experience and opinions appreciated. Thanks!

We've never stayed at the Inn, but we like the Ranch. The rooms are clean, well-maintained, standard motel rooms, and the dining options are sensible. The Inn costs about twice as much as the Ranch, and that doesn't appeal to us because our favorite thing about spending a night on the dessert is to enjoy the stars, which are the same wherever we stay.

Thanks HTTY! I did some research for the dates we were thinking about for next year and the Ranch was significantly less than the Inn. So I have booked there and we'll do some meals and be sure to also visit the Inn.

Now to start planning the things to do! Thanks again!

Artists Drive, located about nine miles south of Furnace Creek Ranch, is one of our favorite things to do while we are in Death Valley. It is easily missed.

We visited Death Valley last March and stayed at the ranch. It was just perfect. Not too fancy ...comfortable casual surrounding...food in restaurants good...interesting grounds to walk around ...room was clean comfortable and had a little balcony to look out in the mornings with coffee. We did go over the the Inn one night for dinner so we saw the inside. Very beautiful but not worth the price difference unless your visiting Death Valley to relax and spend most of your time at the Inn...we were not ...I never would of guessed it was as beautiful as it was. Morning until dark ...hiking and stargazing. No need for a fancy hotel or overpriced food. :)

Thanks again HTtY and Gaila! I am sure I will be back with more questions closer to that time. In the meantime I have a road trip to Assateague, Outer Banks and Shenandoah NP to plan,
