Fun things to do in Chattanooga,TN
 

Hi we will be in Chattanooga for a couple of days and I was wondering what are some nice and fun things to do and see?

The one thing I remember visiting in Chattanooga was the Chickamauga National Military Park. It sits on a bluff overlooking the city and is very close to the state line with Georgia. I'm sure there are lots of other nice fun things to do and see but I was just passing through.

On Lookout Mountain, Rock City, Incline RR, Point Park, Battle for Chattanooga Museum. We thought Ruby Falls was a waste of time and moiney.

DT, Hunter Museum of Art, Bluff View Art District, Chattanooga Choo-Choo, African-American Museum. Others recommend the Aquarium, but we didn't visit it.

We ran out of time before we got to the Tennessee Valley RR and the Chattanooga Nature Center.

Do you know about a good restaurant too?

We were only there for two dinners, and I don't remember the names of the restaurants. One was at the base of Lookout Mountain--just OK. The other was a sushi place near Coolidge Park, which was very good. Sorry I can't be more specific.

North Chatt is a fun area to walk around, with several restaurants. The aquarium really is great.

I have lived in Chattanooga for 5 years.

Near base of Lookout Mtn. is an Italian restaurant called Boccacia. Very good. Alleia downtown on main also has great menu and good food. On the North shore from downtown would recommend Foodworks on Manufacturers Row.

Also Aquarium is fabulous.

Ditto nygvic's recommendation for Foodworks. They have a fabulous Sunday Brunch with $1 mimosas and also half price on bottles of wine on Monday nights.

Chattanooga is a really beautiful, scenic city. Enjoy!

Aretha Franklin's is fun for good country food. Big River Grill is fun also. City Cafe and Niki's have good food too.

There's a lot to see in Chattanooga. There's the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum which is the largest operating railroad museum in TN.

Coolidge Park is a beautiful park that features the antique carousel that has been restored and children have a choice of 52 beautiful carved animals to ride. Docked on the Tennessee River at the park is the Delta Queen that will become a hotel.

Along the river on the south shore is the Riverwalk that follows the Tennessee with beautiful scenery and interesting sights along the way.

Walk across the Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge from the South Shore to the North Shore.

Downtown Electric Shuttle or CARTA. Electric Shuttle is the easiest way to get around Downtown Chattanooga. Electric buses run daily about every 5 minutes from the Chattanooga Choo Choo .

Musts for Civil War Buffs are a half to full day exploration of Chickamauga Battlefield beginning with the visitor center. Hike from Point Park to Sunset Rock or visit both by car and hike to Glen Falls. Take a bicycle tour of Reflection Riding Arboretum. Drive up to Signal Point

You may want to explore Lookout Mountain on your first day and consult with the rangers at the visitor center at Point Park to see about programs. I know they have them often in the summer. The rangers are really a great help.

A sincere thank you for mentioning Chickamauga. Means a lot to me since I served with the Rock of Chickamauga (19th Infantry )regiment more than 65 years ago. The regiment had it's big day at the battle almost 150 years ago. Thank you again. Stu
