Fun place for dinner between Morgans Hotel and Jazz Standard ?
I think the title said it all! There will be 4 of us - it will be a Saturday - need to go early enough to easily make the 9:30 show at Jazz Standard.
We like all kinds of food - but thought we'd take a pass on the BBQ that is served at Blue Smoke (upstairs from Jazz Standard) . Small plates and wine would be preferred and we can do a dessert at the club. (Sticky toffee pudding, no less!) Thanks for any suggestions. I have already looked up this area on Menu Pages, but really am hoping for some place that you guys/gals have been. |
Here are a few places:
I Trulli http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl...32168374454553 Les Halles http://leshalles.net/brasserie/ For something completely different: Saravanaas Bhavan-The dosa is wonderful http://newyork.citysearch.com/profil...as_bhavan.html |
I gave many neighborhood restaurant recommendations in your other thread, so I'm not sure I have anything to offer. Zengo specializes in small plates, but perhaps that's not your taste. Blue Smoke is surrounded by Indian restaurants if you like Indian food. There a nice Thai restaurant on 28th/3rd Avenue (Thainy) about 3 blocks from Jazz Standard.

ADUCHAMP1-
Thanks for the suggestions - have looked them all up. I Trulli is $$$ for us - Les Halles looked interesting, but I was looking at the wrong menu. Their "Lower East Side" menu is quite a bit cheaper than the one mid-town. But have saved them in my folio. Doug - You certainly did give us some great recommendations in the long thread and they are much appreciated. We have made reservations for Brunch on Sunday at the Morgan Dining Room. I have cut and pasted the other suggestions to take along. I was hoping for a place to magically appear halfway along the trek to Jazz Standard - thought that would be great for "the knee". Our friend found Wine30NYC at 41 E 30th St, but it looks very tiny to me - and being a Saturday night, it might take forever to get through. Do you know anything about it? I love the small plates - thought the wine was pricey for what it was. (Just had bought a couple of bottles of one selection marked up about 80%!) I'm getting excited - this time tomorrow our plane will be getting ready to land at JFK! Thanks again for your help. Would love to buy you guys a glass of wine. You will know us - Will is big and tall (no hair) has a stick and I'm short and always have a big goofy grin when I'm traveling! My email is in my profile. |
I'm afraid I've never heard of Wine30NYC.
There's a newish place called Cask on 33rd Street, just off 3rd Avenue (sandwiched between Caliente Cab and Le Parisien, a little French bistro with great food). They do serve small plates and food, but I've never eaten there. There is a wine bar/Italian restaurant next door to Blue Smoke, but I can't remember the name. It might be i Trulli. It's pretty expensive, though. |
