Fun Nightlife in NYC

Looking for fun nightlife in the City. I will be there on a Thursday-Sunday in early October. Looking for cool bars, live bands (all styles) etc. Not really looking for clubs but if there is something really cool and trendy then we would consider it. My husband and I are in our late 20's.

I can't give you any specific ideas, but when you arrive in NYC, pick up a Time Out magazine. They have listings of all that.

The Lower East Side is always heaving on the weekends particularly with a crowd of twenty-thirty somethings. Within about a seven block radius you can find numerous bars, lounges, and restaurants, many with live bands. Look for Luna Lounge and Pianos which will definitely have a band on. Also nearby are The Delancy, Max Fish, Smithfield, Tenement, Verlaine, Pink Pony, Schiller's and more. All have varying vibes and crowds and you'll be able to choose what you like.

I'm no NY expert, but was there last week for work. A lively & "hip" area that the sales guys took us out in was the "Meat Packing District." We ate at Pastis, which was full of young trendy people, and then walked around to 2 other bars (the names of which I don't remember). Pastis is owned by the same people who own Schiller's (mentioned above), so that may be the same area.

You have literally thousands of great options in Manhattan alone.

Visit Citysearch and www.sheckys.com for ideas, as well as www.villagevoice.com for live show listings.

Enjoy!
