FUN LUNCH IN SAN FRANCISCO WITH A VIEW

A few co-workers and I will be in San Francisco for 1/2 a day. We are in our late 30's to 40 age range. Looking for a NICE place for lunch, nice fun atmosphere but not "stuffy". A view would be nice and GOOD FOOD (no specific type of food we just like good food) and cocktails. Price range without cocktails around $30-$40 per person is our budget. Any suggestions???

Dear ciaoana:

You could check out the various restaurants at the Ferry Building, with the most notable being the Slanted Door. If you have wheels, the renovated Cliff House has fabulous views with pretty good food.

Look for a bus that goes to the end of Fulton and go to the Beach Chalet. It is a brew pub at the end of Golden Gate Park with a view over the ocean.

Big ditto to MichelleY but also maybe Cityscapes at the top of the Hilton?

I still like Washington Sq Bar and Grill (The WashBAG). Old SF, good grub and stiff drinks. Not much of a view but you can see some of WashSq. ((Y))

Anybody been to Pier 23 lately?
Ate there about 2 yrs ago and liked it. Eclectic crowd. Bay views in the back if the weather is good.

Forgot about Acme Chop House too.
Good view of the hustle/bustle down Embarcadero.

Oh, I have a "cheap date" view place (patio outside when weather insn't too cool). Red's Java House. Yummy/ cheap breakfast (lunch okay). in the Embarcadero/ pier area on the waterfront.

trippn, That place is still on our "to do" list. A good stop on the way to/from SBC ("Should Be Called") PacBell Park.

I like the view (and the food) at McKormick and Kulettos (Ghiradelli Square).

Slanted Door at the Ferry Building. Great food and view, cool place and great markets in the rest of the building! Yum!

I like Pier 23 too! Funky and best on the back patio in good weather. On the water. Inside not as good. Great crabcakes and brunch too.

Greens at Fort Mason: great view of boats in Marina, GG Bridge, via huge on-the-water windows. Def'initely in your price range.
Have a great day, Ciaoana!
