Fun in the San Diego Sun

Headed down to SD in late August for in-law's wedding. Looking for fun i.e. restaurants, clubs, interesting stuff! Any suggestions? I'll only be there for the weekend, but, the fam is pretty boring, so I will need some way to have a good time!
Check out the Gaslamp District for good restaurants, bars, and nightlife. We spent a Saturday afternoon in the Gaslamp District eating and drinking at Redfish (good!) and just walking around checking out the shops and nearby Horton Plaza Mall. Also try the Sunday Champagne Brunch Cruise on The Hornblower Line harbor cruise. This is a wonderful way to see the city from a different perspective. And the food is great..and so is the champagne! Visit Balboa Park. So much to do, so little time!

casa de bandini restaurant in old town.
or, if you have a vehicle (can't be a rental) drive down to porta neuevo for dinner - it's about 1n hour down the coast - stop at papa's & beers in rosarito beach for a drink.
go for a walk in balboa park around 11:00 on a sunday.
rent rollar blades and do the board walk along pacific/mission beach.
like antiques or the "hippie type" scene - go down to newport avenue in ocean beach on saturday.
barefoot bar & grill is usually fun
