fun chicago tour

I wanted to pass on information on a really fun tour I took in chicago this weekend. It is run through chicago food planet tours. we did the "near north" tour and enjoyed it quite a lot- it is a walking tour through 3 neighbourhoods, with several stops to sample local foods along the way. we are a family of 4 (2 teens) and we all had a great time. the shops we stopped into were unique/interesting and yummy! our guide was fun and knowledgeable, and it was a great way to spend 3 hours, see parts of the city I would never had known to explore, and we had a great foodie experience! the tour is highly rated on tripadvisor, but when I did a search I did not find any references here. the tours are small (16 people) and book quickly.

Going to chicago, and would like to know who runs the tour, and where to get tickets?

How funny. I live in one of the Chicago neighborhoods (Old Town) where one of their tours goes, and I've been wondering over the past few months about the big groups walking down my street. I could tell obviously they were doing some sort of walking tour, but I figured it had to do with history or architecture. Now I realize it's the food tour! I guess I need to take the tour myself and learn more about my neighborhood!!

But I love 4bams comment about seeing parts of the city they never would have known to explore. One of the (many) great things about Chicago are the neighborhoods. Most tourists stay in the River North area (which I agree is the best place to stay for out-of-towners, close to many sites) but never venture out to see neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, Old Town, Bucktown, Wicker Park, etc. and all the great shops, restaurants and sites in these areas. So I love what Chicago Food Planet is doing!
