fun atlanta restaurant
We will be coming with a group for the SEC Championship game in Dec. Being Tennessee fans, we'll likely be happy friday nite and sad Sat. nite, so we want to go somewhere fun for a group in the atlanta area friday nite, sort of a last supper, if you will. All of us are in our mid 30s, flexible on cuisine, money not really an issue but not looking for most expensive, but rather most fun/best experience....thanks for all the help

Weird, freaky, and fun, like a Disney ride gone bad, is Dante's Down the Hatch. It is a fondue place in Buckhead.
I also have had tons of fun at The Beer Garden and the ESPN Zone both in Buckhead. |
Try this: http://www.dantesdownthehatch.com/
|
Try Taverna Plaka for a feast of Greek food and a gaggle of belly dancers who come out every 15 minutes. If you're up for a fun night, this is surely the place to go.
|
The Beer Garden is no longer around, it is now Joes Crab Shack.

Ah yes, the SEC championship! An SEC grad myself, I suggest the Twisted Taco on 12th Street in Midtown Atlanta. www.twistedtaco.com After dinner, you can venture a few doors down to the Leopard Lounge. Enjoy! |
check out cafe tu tu tango (funky), and fado (irish pub). right in buckhead. so awesome!!
|
Jasper--You stole my answer...by the way, SMcCullough, you'd want to eat at Tu Tu Tango (it's a tapas place) and then could walk over to Fado's....
|
If Twisted Taco is too casual for the occasion, try Einstein's, also in Midtown.
http://einsteinsatlanta.com/home.php (Buckhead's time has definitely come and gone. Stick with Midtown or Virginia Highlands.) |
If you want first rate belly dancing, and Moraccan cuisine, visit the Imperial Fez, P'tree Road, Buckhead. Highly regarded. You'll be chanting "Yalah". Old Moraccan proverb: weigh carefully adice of anyone touting "Virginia Highlands." Those in the know know there's no "s" in that name.

I know there's a "v" in "advice." Spent my formative years in bars and restaurants, instead of learning to type.

Dinner Experience ideas, already posted, but wanted to give you a few more details. I'm a little sleepy, so excuse ramblings...
1. Dantes (peachtree street, across from Lenox mall, behind bridal store) Foundue on a ship with live jazz. Live crocs in a moat... somewhat loud during band sets... but great. Fridays after 8pm brilliant singer. Dante is an ex-navy seal and was in one of, if not the first Navy Seal team, hence the ship and wharf decor... all authentic... If we, includes chics, good call. 2. Fogo De Chao (Piedmont Ave in Buckhead, just south of Peachtree Street) Lots of good food, eating is the experience, brazilian steakhouse. 8+/- meats that come to your table on swords, plus salad bar that is more like cold anitpasta bar. All you can eat. price fix. Make Reservation or wait forever and a day. Get a caperenya (sp?) If the group has any one who does not eat, this could spoil the mood of the group... this is a place to put on your game face ... www.fogodechao.com 3. Fodos (peachtree street in buckhead) Great food, good beer. A good place to go after the dinner though. http://www.fadoirishpub.com/fado_pub...p?city=atlanta 4. Loca Lunas (midtown, peachtree/6th Street) -- Cuban Music? or similar, tapas, may also be good after the dinner... but Fados is more relaxing, place to talk, Loca Lunas is super loud, but fun. http://www.loca-luna.com/ |
Peachtree and Piedmont are "Roads" in Buckhead, not a "Street" and an "Avenue." Nevertheless, the SEC championship is over.
