Ft. Walton Beach Restaurants/Activities?

We're headed to Ft. Walton Beach (Seagrove Beach) over July 4 for a week-long family vacation. While we'll be cooking most of our meals in the place we rented, I thought I'd ask if anyone has some recommendations for restaurants for those occasional nights we decide to go out? Also, is there any reason to go into Destin at all? Any other activities that are not to miss? Mostly we'll just be very content with the pool and beach but we're also up for an adventure not too far away. thanks so much!

Are you staying in Ft. Walton Beach or Seagrove Beach?

I think it's actually Seagrove. It's in Watercolor.

Okay, then I would definitely recommend that you repost with a different title because Ft. Walton Beach and Seagrove are not exactly next door to each other. Also, do a search here for Seagrove Beach, Watercolor, Seaside and you'll get lots of previous posts. If you're happy with the pool and beach there's no reason to go to Destin. If you like shopping, then definitely go to Destin. Hope this helps!

I think you will want to go to Destin. There are waterparks there.. The docks are interesting when the boats come in --see what fish have been caught. There is jet ski rental. There was a boatride when we were there. Plenty of massive tourist restaurants the kids will enjoy--I can't imagine how long you might have to wait!!
But my favorite--not to miss is Grayton BCH. Do a search here and you will see many favorable comments--go to the Red Bar/Picollos to eat--simply put- fabulous

If Cap San Blas is near where you are staying, I would check on the beach conditions before you go.
There was another shark attack today and the beaches are closed.

Cape San Blas is close to 100 miles away. Not sure if the beaches have been closed to swimming.

Well, Scarlett. If I had read your post a little more carefully, I would have know!!! Thanks.

I've heard great personal reviews of Louisiana Lagniappe's in Destin!
Another personal favor of mine are 2 places near the Pier in Fort Walton Beach (Angler's & Crab Trap). both are open to the beach, so go before dark!
But FWB is quite a drive from Seagrove.
Destin is very conjested.
