Ft. Myers Beach advice needed

Hello to all and thanks in advance for your help. I was wondering, the weather report is saying "scattered thunderstorms" for everyday of our visit (Aug. 7-12). We've been to Orlando several times and there it usually means a bit of rain and then sunny again. Does it mean the same in Ft. Myers, or should we be prepared to be rained out the whole time?

Also, is anyone aware of what red tide is doing right now? We're staying across the street from the beach.

Have a good day and thanks again!

Netwit, try looking at the thread entitled Red Tide. THere's a few comments there.
We'll be in Ft. Myers the 14th to 21st and I'm checking this out as well!

The forecast for all of Florida in the summer is scattered thundershowers because it frequently rains for a short period every day. (But not always. You can go for a long stretch without any rain) It will be sunny most every day and very hot in August. Be prepared for the heat. I don't now how they are doing with the red tide since I live on the east coast of FL and it's not a problem here. Don't forget to go over to Sanibel-Captiva on your trip. One of the most beautiful places in Florida. Enjoy

Not to worry... you will likely get a quick shower in the afternoons. Think of it as a reprieve from the overwhelming heat!

My parents now live in Naples and say the showers come late in the afternoon, and then they're done with. By the way, the sky is spectacular to look at as the storms roll in--great big dark clouds followed by torrents of rain--and then Pouf! clear and beautiful again, as if nothing ever happened.

When we were there in May, it rained for about 10 minutes(max),just about everyday at 3:00pm, then it passed.Don't worry. It shouldn't put a damper on your trip. Enjoy!

I always enjoyed a quick storm in the summer. It would cool things off a bit.
