Ft Meyers or Deerfield Beach? elsewhere?

Family wants to take toddler to beach in early may. Main requirements - beach, pool, and suite type accomodations, not too far from an airport, kid friendly (no special activities needed, I just don't want to take him where its not appropriate. Diamond Head in Ft Myers and Embassy Suites in Deerfield sound interesting. Anyone have any advice? Want to stay under $200 a night.

We stayed at Diamondhead 3 years ago, though it has been renovated since. The beach is good,as is the location. I took young teens and we were able to walk to town, restaurants, and the pier. The pool is o.k. kind of crowded and lots of kids. I was a little disappointed in our rooms, kind of shabby, but maybe they have improved. Is Embassy on the beach? I think it might be quieter.

We stayed at the Deerfield Beach Embassy Suites last year and I believe it would definitely fit your needs. Beautiful pool area and breakfast included each morning. While I'm not fond of Deerfield Beach in general, Fort Lauderdale is a relatively short drive away. Only a small road that is hardly noticable between the hotel and beach. Try checking Lago Mar Resort in Fort Lauderdale. Thier rates go down May 1st and their location and the resort itself are far superior to the Embassy in my opinion.<BR>http://www.lagomar.com

We stayed in Ft. Myers for 3 days last summer. We stayed at the pink shell hotel. All rooms were oceanfront. It was o.k. but most of the hotels along the beach are extremely tired and in need of renovation. We had no reservations, and explored different hotels. Some we walked in, and right back out again. I would choose the Deerfield Beach or lago Mar in FLL. as suggested. Embassy Suites I do hear from others is very nice.

We stayed at the Embassy suites deerfield last year and enjoyed it, but we like the Lago Mar in Ft. Lauderdale better. Beach is nicer, lots of suites available, great pools, nice playground and close to the Ft. Lauderdale airport. Look up Lagomar.com.

Thanks for the info everyone. I looked into Lago Mar (looks terrific) but they seem to be booked for early May. I'll call and see if they have had any cancelations. Any other suggestions?

If you are leaning toward FLL you could try the Marriott Beach Towers hotel. They are on the beach, and very nice. Not sure about &quot;suites&quot;. It is a nice hotel. One of the nicest in FLL on the beach and close to everything. Good location.

Sanibel Island. Check out www.sanibel-captiva.org for accommodations.

Sanibel/Captiva are a little out of our price range for a suite type accomodation, but thatnks for the recommendation!
