Ft Lauderdale with young kids

We're going to Ft Lauderdale/Boca Raton on business for a week in January, and will take the 4 year old and 6 year old. Are there any attractions for them other than the beaches? I could find no mention of children's activites on the Ft Lauderdale tourist web sites. Any alligator farms, aquariums, zoos, children's museums? I see the Everglades are not too far away. Are there tourist walks on the Ft Lauderdale side of the Everglades?
Thank you for any info.
Paul

Butterfly World in Pompano Beach, and there's a nice little zoo in Boca/Delray (adjacent to I-95). I'll look for the name of the zoo for you. It's a nice one for young children and not too big to tire them out or take up the entire day.

I highly recommend a tour of the everglades. The website below has information on the one that i took when i was in Ft. Lauderdale.

Lion Country Safari, west of West Palm Beach, is the one the kids will remember the most. It is a drive-thru (in your vehicle), with all the African animals running around.

At the end of the ride, a large park with boatride, etc. Bring snacks and a kiddiepotty, as you cannot get out of the car in the wild animal part (duh).

West Palm has a zoo, also, on Summit Blvd, just E of I-95.

Gumbo Limbo has some interesting exhibits. It's a great place for kids and adults!

I don't know where you are staying, but the kids would probably enjoy taking the water taxi to a beach or restaurant. The guys give a little tour talk, and you get to see some awesome homes. It's a nice way to get from point A to B without stress!
