Ft. Lauderdale River Cruise
Hello, I am looking for a recommendation for a cruise on the river in Ft.Lauderdale (is this the Intercoastal??).
I read in other posts about a sunset cruise where you could see the beautiful homes. Any suggestions?? Also, do they serve cocktails and appetizers? |
Hi...
Actually its both, you have the intra-coastal and also the New River, which feeds off the intracoastal. Theres the River Boat Queen, never been on it, seems kinda "touristie". You could look to see what departs from Bahia Mar, thats a big marina down here. Also as a suggestion, there is a water taxi service that runs up and down the intracoastal. I believe you pay one price and can ride it all night. That way you can go to the bars and restaurants along the water and see the homes. Good luck! |
The name of the paddle wheel boat on the intracoastal waterway (not "intercoastal") is the Jungle Queen.
http://www.junglequeen.com/ Also, the water taxi company went out of business about a year ago. It was a big political scandal here. In today's Sun-Sentinel it was announced, that a new water taxi service is being launched. It will be run like a land taxi company --- you call them to pick you up and take you to a particular location. This differs from the defunct company, which was more like a water bus service, stopping at specific locations / stops. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/loc...0,108415.story |
Castleblanca, I was just there a couple of weeks ago and saw a water taxi service running. Is this the new one?
|
My mistake. It was one of the yellow water bus boats.

My husband and I did the jungle queen, although it is touristy I would suppose they tell you who homes you are passing the history of various homes. The water taxi you might see them but it is not a "tour" exactly. You won't know whos home belonged to who. I would suggest the jungle queen, tousity or not. After all that is what I was. We liked it.

oops, your right... Jungle Queen..
Didnt know about the water taxi, guess I should get out more.. |
Actually we thought the Jungle Cruise was pretty interesting. There are a lot of sights you wouldn't see from the shore and a boat ride is always fun. We went during the day instead of at night and didn't have any food or drink options then, but I don't know about the evenings.
