Ft Lauderdale Marriot Beach Place Towers

We are planning to visit in October either Marriot Beach Place towers or Fairfield Royal vista Pompano Beach. Have been told that there is construction work at Marriot BPT, can anyone tell me how intrusive this is likely to be? If this was not suitable, would Pompano Beach be a good alternative?

The Marriot would be the much better choice as far as location , beach quality, and proximity to night life. Lauderdale has every kind of activity you could enjoy, and all easily accessible. The Marriot itself is within walking distance to many restaurants, and it is right in Beachplace area which has music and entertainment nightly.

Definately Stay at the Marriott! Pompano is not great. As far as construction, there is no road construction in that area and BeachPlace is not undergoing any renovations that I noticed. I was there yesterday.

Mike,

I stayed for about 4 months at the Hyatt Pier 66 about two years ago.

Bad news, the tower is 1960's ugly from the outside, and it's not on the beach.

Good news, it's an excellent property. The pool area is absolutely elegant. The rooms in the tower are very luxurious...if you would prefer to be in the low rise area, you'll either overlook the pool or the waterway.

The California Grille, on property, is a very good restaurant, and you're not far from the Las Olas (sp?) area for more fine dining and shopping.

And if you want to observe real money, check out the boats (ships) in the yacht harbor.

I would highly recommend the p66!

Since this thread concerns Ft. Lauderdale, I have a related question...
I will be staying in Springhill Suites Marriott for 3 days pre-cruise.
What restaurants, shopping areas, etc. are within walking distance? Has anyone reading this ever stayed in this hotel? Thanks for any information.
