Ft. Lauderdale: Lago Mar?

Hello! We will be in Ft. Lauderdale mid-May
& are considering the 2BR oceanfront @
Lago Mar. Looks lovely but I heard somewhere
(maybe here in past posts?) that Lago Mar is a bit 'tired' & in need of refurbishment.
Also, when we called to inquire re: reservations they seemed awfully abrupt!
We asked for 'oceanfront' & were told that
they would give us 'whatever was available
@ the time'!! I found this response odd....when you are
booking 4 months in advance (I called in January!!) why cld. they not reserve an 'oceanfront' 2BR for us?
Comments on Lago Mar?
Thx!

Susan,

We just book for June their after four E-mails & a lot of hassel too! We now have a 1 bedroom super deluxe oceanfront suite. Everything you said is correct! My suggestion is to talk directly with Kimberly. When she E-mailed me she was very apologetic & corrected all of my problems in communication with them. I think it was some abrubt receptionists also! Lago Mar has reservations 6 months in advance! That place is a 5 star establishment & they are getting repeat families that have been going to this place for years. It is very pricey. Here is the website: http://www.lagomar.com/

I must say, that without the of Kimberly, we would never got these reservations! I hope this helps & I hope you get this streigten out!

Ron, thx. for your reply. Did Kimberly
confirm your 1 BR "oceanfront"? I was told that "oceanfront" was on a 'request' only basis and they they absolutely would not confirm it! You have to wonder about a place that has
the 'attitude' we have experienced in
attempting to make reservations! Any comments on the general condition of
the rooms/suites from past guests?

My husband and I are going to the Lago Mar In May. We booked through at travel agent. Got a super delux ocean front room for $175. I called to confirm and they were extremely nice. I have heard nothing about te place being run down. I heard it was very nice, private with nice beach and pools. also restaurants. I never spoke to Kimberly. What are the arates you are paying?

Susan,

Yes, the was confirmed! We also got this suite for $175. Linda, the poster before me gave you her view of Lago Mar, which is also mine view. I know that some of these reservationist are sometimes rude, but finally when I got to speak with Kimberly, that went away quickly! Getting reservations at this place is very difficult indeed, but as Linda has said, this is a beautiful resort. When I called in Febuary to make a reservation for a suite in June, I was indeed upset with the way things were handled! Like I said, once I sent them an E-mail explaning what took place, Kimberly got in touch with me & somehow she streighten things out very quickly! I saw you asking if there was another hotel suite in the Ft. Landerdale area on another post. I hope you can in at the Lago Mar, as it is a beautiful resort! Here is a website for another superb hotel in Boca Raton & Jupiter Beach Resort:
http://www.bocaresort.com/ but its really very expensive! http://www.jupiterbeachresort.com/resort.htm

The plot thickens! I have phoned, faxed & emailed & Lago Mar adamantly refuses to confirm
'oceanfront' for us. Furthermore, I have not had the courtesy of a reply to my
emails! Our rate for a 2BR super deluxe 'mystery
location' is: $230 + 11% tax of $25.30=
$255.30 per night. Something is wrong here, guys! Linda gets a room rate of $175, Ron gets 'oceanfront super deluxe'
1 BR for the same price & we will pay $255
for a 2BR 'super deluxe' of unknown location! Comments? Suggestions?

Susan: My room at the Lago Mar is a one bedroom ocean front (Ibelieve a suite) and I am going May 11th till the 17th I went through a travel agent. I did however call to confirm and I spoke with a very nice gentleman. He said that the ocean by the hotel was called lake Atlantic because it is so calm. This resort is listed in the Connoisseur's Guide to the Worlds Best Resorts and Great Hotels. Did you book on line or did you actually call the hotel? I am hoping it is as nice as I heard. If you look under rants and raves there are very good things said about it. I did not know it was so crowded in May. That is really an off season in Florida. Oh Well Good Luck and maybe I will see you there.

Susan,

I'm really sorry for what you & other vacationers are going thru. I know that the end of May is Memorial Day, but this year we found it very difficult to get reservations on June 1st & 2nd even tho Memorial weekend was the weekend before! We only ask for those two days because we are going on down to Key West for a month. Now, your E-mails, I had the same response, no one answering them & very upsetting! Of course, this all went away when Kimberly finally answered me after I wrote them explaning what took place. Good luck in trying to get this sorted out, I know you shouldn't have to go thru this!
