Ft. Lauderdale Hotel to Miami Airport?

I'm staying at the Westin in Hollywood, FL in September and need to meet a friend at the Miami Airport fairly early in the morning. What's the most reliable method of transportation for getting to the Miami airport from my FLL hotel? Any ideas of cost?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Will you not have a car? That would be the best choice, but if you do not, I think a cab is the next best bet. It won't be cheap however.

No, no car - we're picking up the car in Miami and driving down to the Keys. I've seen several shuttles on line, but they seem vague about hours, cost, minimum number of passegers. How much would you estimate a cab would cost?

You will have to leave EARLY to try to beat the traffic on route 95 south from FLL to Miami.

Call your hotel, they should have suggestions too.

sweetie - You might want to consider picking up the car at FLL if you are flying into there. Car rental pick up is very easy at FLL and the extra cost for a day or two might be worth not having the hassle and expense of getting to MIA without a car.

Excellent suggestion. I'd MUCH rather pick up a car in Fort Lauderdale than Miami airport.

Check rental rates for pick-up OTHER THAN the airport location. You can usually save $$$.

I am also interested in the answer to seasweetie's questions.
We will be flying into Miami at 12.55 pm and need to get to Fort Lauderdale. We will be staying the night before our cruise.
How much would a shuttle be?
How far is the ride?
Any good hotel suggestions?
Look forward to your answers too.

Agree with the others.

Car rentals in Florida are the cheapest way to get around.

A cab to MIA from your hotel would be around $75 and you would have to get the shuttle at FLL airport.

Getting from MIA to FtL: There is a Super Shuttle. We took it in May after our transatlantic cruise. From MIA to our home in Ft Lauderdale was $62. No reservations, just look for them at baggage area and they put you on a van. It was a shared ride (two other stops, maybe net loss of 1/2 hr) but cheapest, and we weren't in a hurry. Check out their website.
Agree with other posters on renting a car in FtL and driving to MIA--it's cheapest and not a difficult trip, ie not hard to find the airport. Have fun!
