Does anyone have any advice on the Sheraton Yankee Trader Hotel? Or the any Marriotts in FT. Lauderdale? My husband and I are going on a weekend in trip at the end of Jan.

Marriott Harbor Beach (awesome)...nice...on the beach...there are hardly any places directly on the beach...i loved being here...sitting outside and watching the planes come and go and watching the ships come and go. Good eating in here and great concierge...someone from Ft. Lauderdale says this is number one! They have another Marriott but it's mostly kids and loud someone had said. Have fun!

Marriott Harbor Beach, are there any other Marriotts other than this one that are any good? The lowest rate for that weekend is 339. per night. They do not have to be on the beach just in a good location. Do you know anything about the Sheratons?

Stayed in the Sheraton Yankee Trader years ago, and was in Ft. Lauderdale not that long ago. It was a nice hotel, nothing extravagant or memorable from what I remember. It was right across the street from the beach. If you had to chose between the 2 Sheratons, I would go for the Yankee Clipper instead. The Marriott at Beach Place is supposed to be very nice but a lot of $$$.

If you do not have to be in FLL you cld go a little farther north to the Marriott in Delray Beach. There are 2 Marriotts in DB

Just went to Marriott Harbor Beach Resort in November. Had a great time. Hotel is Beautiful. We had an oceanview room. Hotel is located right on the ocean. We could even see the cruise ships coming and going from our room.

Now what I did is bid on priceline.com for this hotel. Paid only $105 a night. Make sure when they ask what type of hotel you want choose "RESORT". This is the only resort hotel they offer for Ft.Lauderdale on priceline.

Janny, What kind of room did they give you with Priceline-Did it have a balcony or a view? I am thinking of bidding for this hotel for March.I have stayed here before.

I have to tell this story about MHB.

We had two beachfront rooms, one for my wife and I and one for the toddler age kids.

It just so happened that a big GE group was having a major corporate gathering there at the same time.

One night, GE was having a beach party/barbeque right below us. It was fun to watch and listen to at the time.

We finally got the kids to bed and were beginning to have some "quality time" When lights started flashig, bombs started falling and smoke began to billow off the beach. The kids went nuts and we all scrambled to the windows to see what was going on.

GE had hired Bombs Away, Inc. or someone to have a BIG firworks display shot off a barge just off the beach.

It was a great show, and we always chuckle about that story whenever we hear about MHB, a truly great hotel!

I got two rooms at the Sheraton Yankee Trader in September through Hotwire.

I noticed they were doing lots of renovations at the time so there is a chance you may get a renovated room if they have completed this (perhaps you could ask at check in).

We had one room in each tower and both rooms seemed perfectly adequate and in good condition (they hadn't been updated). The hotel is handy for a Water Taxi stop (Seville Street) which is a great way to get around and see the Intracoastal Waterway and get to Las Olas Boulevard shops and restaurants and the Riverfront.

The hotel is also right opposite the beach with a walkway over the road from the hotel to get there.

I stayed at the Marriott Harbor Beach via Priceline in Sept. We had one of the few rooms without a balcony, and it had no view. We asked for a view and balcony and the front desk just chuckled and said no. We still had a great time, lovely pool and beach, but next time we hope for a nicer room.

We must of lucked up with a nice reservationist. When I bidded you couldn't pick what type of room. When we arrived at the hotel, we requested a oceanview room and a balcony. She said mostly all rooms have a balcony. Plus I called the hotel a few days before we arrived and told them it we were coming for our anniversary and requested a oceanview room.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Marina Marriott hotel. I live in Ft. Lauderdale and in November I bid with Priceline for one night (Thursday) and got it for $49. I asked at the desk what it would be for a room overlooking the intracoastal waterway and I got moved from the 2nd floor overlooking nothing to the 7th floor overlooking the waterway -- and they didn't even charge me extra!! I don't know if it was because it was a one-night stay on a weeknight, or that I was from Ft. Lauderdale and they wanted good recommendations, but either way, I was soooo pleased!

I love this hotel. It's not as fancy as the Marriott Harbor Beach, but quite nice. The staff couldn't have been nicer, and the Water Bus has a stop right outside the hotel (you must take this over to the Las Olas and Riverfront areas while you are there.)

If you use Priceline, bid for 3* Downtown and you'll get either the Marina Marriott or the Embassy Suites right down the street. I'm sure it will be more than $49 because I was there just before the "season" started.

You can't go wrong with either Marriott hotel, it's just a question of what type of hotel you want -- 5* quality or 3-4* quality. Oh yes, and the parking is quite expensive at the MHB. There is a per day parking fee at the Marina Marriott, but not quite as high. Actually, I left in the morning and the ticket booth was not in operation, so I ended up not having to pay for parking at all (self-parking.)

As far as the Yankee Clipper or the Yankee Trader, they both should be nice. However, for a little bit more per night, I think you'd like the Marriott's better.
