Frosted Cake/TSA
We're flying to Vegas for our first wedding anniversary. I'd like to take our layer of wedding cake that we have frozen. It has fondant icing.
I'm thinking that TSA would consider fondant a gel like substance.
Has anyone flown with a frosted cake since the new regs?

Who knows what they'll do, and if someone here has gotten through, that doesn't mean you'll get through, eneven application of rules and maybe your particular TSA people haven't even thought of frosted cakes til they see yours.
What about packing it very well, frozen solid, and the afternoon before you leave send it overnight Fed Ex to yourself at the Vegas hotel If you feel you must have it on your anniversary, that is what I'd do.

Probably depends on if they need desert to go with the other food they have confiscated that day ... can't you just see the TSA break room with all the cheese, candy, cookies, cakes, wine, beer etc they grap? Bet that is party central!

Motor City Girl - it probably will taste awful.
We honeymooned in Venice and brought back wine. We'd love to take it but don't dare. TSA would really like some really good wine to go with their cake.
Oh well, we leave tomorrow morning. I guess we'll have our cake and wine tonight.

Ahhhh...to be young enough to have a 1st anniversary and be concerned about the leftover cake parts!
Leave it home, have some in the limo on the way to the airport, connsume it now or later. Just don't attempt to or fret about getting it on (the cake ;-) )as a carry on. It's not worth it.
Been there, done that. 26 years to the same woman and happily counting.

Thank you for thinking we're young! Actually, I have a daughter that's 24 and his kids are older than that.
We're trying to do things right. It took too many years to meet each other.

tsa is not supposed to allow you to carry on any foods or drinks that were not purchased within the area after the security screenings. they seemed to have no problem with the sealed package of goldfish i brought from home though. neither did they confiscate my lighter, a lady's tweezers, or tons of make up that women were carrying and broke out as soon as we were seated. go figure...
as your cake is already frozen just pack it in one of those styro containers with dry ice and overnight it as emd suggested. if you phone your vegas hotel and inform them of what you're doing i'll bet they will make sure your cake is delivered to you in your room in good shape.
re the wine. it can definetly travel in your checked luggage. wrap it bubble wrap, have them attach a fragile sticker to the suitcase and if you like you can probably have the bag saran wrapped before you check it.
