Frontier Airlines

Looking into summer vacation and finding best fare and shortest flying route and time on Frontier. Don't know much about them. Could anyone enlighten me as to their service, reputation, etc. I just want to know if there are any glaring problems, if people across the board are happy or unhappy with their service, etc. Thanks for any information.

I've also posted in the "airlines" section, but thought this section might get more traffic.

Thanks!

Although, I have not personally flown on Frontier,,,I have had several friends fly them and they have been well pleased..If you are flying East or West you will need to connect in Denver...but I know they have some great fares to the East Coast from the West ...I do not think you have anything ot worry bout..

I recently got 'walked' from a canceled United flight in Denver to Frontier. It's a 'no frills' line. Planes are a bit older than average, seats were pretty cramped, staff very pleasant and helpful. Their on time rating isn't spectacular.
They REALLY aggravated ALL of us on the plane by leaving us sit on the tarmac AT our destination for AN HOUR!! They said there were no gates open!! We could see oodles of open gates right out the window!! People were getting so irritable I was worried someone was going to get violent...people were threatening to storm the emergency exit. maybe not the airline's fault. Dunno. If the fare's a LOT cheaper, maybe worth a try.

Kim, were all of the "oodles of open gates" actually owned/operated by Frontier? It really doesn't matter if a gate is open if it's controlled by AirTran, Southwest, American, etc.! If a Frontier plane was occupying the Frontier gate, then any other Frontier plans have to wait!

Frontier is the best! I love this airline!

We have flown them many, many times and always have had good services and almost always on-time flights.

I was bumped one time on a Frontier Flight. The airline was trying to accomodate passengers from another flight that had missed connections because of delays, plus the entire soccer team from my hometown's local high school was in front of me in line - and they wanted to stay together. The Frontier employee was extremely polite when asking if I would give up the seats for myself and my two kids. He then gave us TWO FREE Tickets for each seat (6 TICKETS) and $60. worth of food coupons!!! Boy! Did our family enjoy our next two FREE trips - to San Diego and Seattle.

My next super experience with Frontier was last spring. My husband and I were taking a dream trip to Tahiti - It was a dream until we arrived at the airport and found that UNITED had CANCELLED ALL Flights to LA that day. FRONTIER Graciously accepted our FREQUENT FLIER tickets from United and gave us priority (along with a family of 5 trying to make a connection to Shang hi, China) because we had such a difficult connection to make in LA. (Air Tahiti only flies a few times a week LA-Tahiti - if we had missed our flight to LA - we were SOL.

Just a few weeks ago, we were bumped fro an American West flight from San Diego. We were put on a flight on Frontier (along with 4 $400 future flight coupons for America West) and our Frontier flight actually beat the America West Flight Back.

We have always had good luck with Frontier - Good service, on time, Clean planes. The best in the West!

Yeah, ha ha ha! I'm sure Stephanie is not interested in crash statistics. It seems evident that people post things like the one above out of boredom with themselves. They need to make themselves laugh so they post a sophomoric reply to a straitforward request for information. Get a life! Or perhaps travel a bit so you can give people on this board some useful information.

Oh,my gosh...thought I would look into this Frontier... fare from Chicago to Phoenix...average 300-383 is 1400 on Frontier....I know it's not THAT much better!!

OMG, I have flown Frontier from Chicago to Phoenix on a buddy pass. I did have to stop in Denver for 30 min. The airline was pretty good. The planes are and the service is decent. I did have to change from jean shorts and a nice shirt to business csual clothes or else they would not let me on. This was only beacause I was flying on a buddy pass.

As far as the average price from Chicago to Phoenix being 300-383. Holy cow you pay way too much. I fly to Phoenix 3 times a year. I just came back on thursday. I have NEVER paid more than 220 bucks for a non-stop flight. For my last trip which was a sat-thursday I paid 192. This is out of midway airport non-stop.

Jesse,Where do you purchase your tickets? I am looking at a memebers only price through Bestfares.com for 230 right now, but the average is up there. I saw also that Continental is charging 1230......??
