Front of the line tickets
Is it worth it for me to buy front of the line tickets to go to any of the clubs. Specifically Rain or Ra.
|
Yes,definitely!Especially Ra...very popular with Vegas locals......line starts forming about 9pm...just dress to impress and look like you belong there.....IMHO, Rain is a little less "tight" maybe just becuz thats where we hang out more...but again, dress to impress........and dont forget the dough...not cheap either place......no matter how you feel while waiting, you'll be pumped when you eneter Ra, a temple of dance/music frenzy/total ecstacy.......HTH...S

Do you know if they play Hip Hop and R&B there on Sat nites?
|
Definitely hip hop on Saturday nights...Both clubs draw big local crowds on Fri/Sat nights...Ra has the big Wednesday show one of the few other than the weekend..Pleasuredome if you are in town....dont think R/B will be heard there and dont know where to be honest..HTH S

Hey Beachboi, Thanks. We really like to dance to hip hop & R&B. Tickets for front of line for Ra are pricey, but I assume its worth it. We may try to go stand in line at Rain since tickets are sold out already for 9/20/03. What time should we get there?
|
Of course.....that's Playboy Weekend..Hugh himself will be there..and KidRock on Sunday night...ouch......so, I would skip Rain and stick with Ra..you will NOT be disappointed...what did you pay for front of the line passes---it includes your cover or should anywayz......

Great thanks. $30.00 for men and $20.00 for women. I was a week too late on Rain. Lats week they had tikcets. Bummer!

FYI, according to the Luxor website, Ra plays house on Sat, Hip hop on Thurs. Totally different. I haven't been there in a year so I can't testify first hand.

WHats House?
Is that the techno stuff? |
For your purposes, yes, "house" is "that techno stuff"-- or, better stated, it can be. But they'll be playing faster-beat dance music than the R&B/hiphop night. But "house" goes all over the map too-- if you like the "Verve Remixed" series of CDs, that's a type of house music.
|
House=little or no lyrics, the DJ is creating his/her own song by mixing multiple records, usually one with beats and one with hooks. Much like techno but I would not consider house to include stuff like Erasure techno remixes and other stuff that includes a pop track.
I think my mom (taking my younger sister to a music festival type thing) described it as "thumping noise and kids dancing with glowsticks". I think "The Beach" might have more hip-hop nights. |
Another thing to bear in mind: The major dance clubs like to play eclectic, so they mix hip-hop in with house, Latin, whatever they feel like playing. You'll hear hip-hop wherever you go. Note that these places have pretty strict dress codes too-- nothing too baggy, you have to wear collared shirts with jeans, etc.
Club Rio is another off-Strip club that plays hip-hop among all the other styles. Its "Use by" date is a bit past, but it could be fun. I'd still do Ra first. Maybe rumjungle...? |
Cool thanks everybody.

vic....forgot to completely answer your question...go early like at 9...even tho you have fl tickets, you gonna hav to wait....there will be "vip's", and guests of the Luxor who will get in ahead of you..the better you dress, the shorter your wait....dress to die for its fun and worth it, part of the experience.....you'll have a great time..the pyro technics just blow me away, the fog,the whole beat of the place...

Message to men: don't wear sneakers or jeans! Some clubs will NOT let men in wearing sneakers or jeans. Women's dress code is a bit more liberal. Of course a chick in tight low-riding jeans and a tube top can get into any nightclub without worry. But, don't assume that jeans are ok for guys. I've been parts of groups where the guys will not be let in because of jeans or sneakers. Dress accordingly!
Next - if you're stayin at the casino where the nightclub is - you don't have to stand in line. The VIP line also allows hotel guests to go in without waiting. You still have to pay the regular cover charge, but you won't have to wait. Stayed at Mandalay recently and didn't have to wait to get into RumJungle or Moorea Beach Club. Have fun! And, regardless of what the club websites SAY they play - they all will almost always play that crappy house music - no lyrics, no beat - just lame repetitive crap. Once in a while you'll hear some decent hip-hop tunes and stuff you can grind to - but for the most part, most clubs do lame house music. |
Not all house is instrumentals only-- there is some pretty trippy vocal dance music being produced in Europe (and Brazil). The stuff you hear in the dance clubs in London (before they churn out the "deep-dish house" junk that everyone here is referring to and hates-- me too!)....
Clubs play house to get the energy level up-- and to watch a bad dancer shake his or her bootie to house is always hilarious! |
