From New York to Milwaukee
 

Hi! We are planning our trip to USA. And we would like to go with motorbikes from New York to Milwaukee. Could you, guys, recommend us to see something on the way?:)

Where are you coming from? I'm not sure that you can rent motorcycles (with insurance).
Can you fly to Chicago and then take a Hiawatha train to Milwaukee? Ohio and Indiana are not very interesting to drive across with a motorcycle.

Do you mean New York City or elsewhere in the State of New York?

There are places in NYC that rent motorcycles, but you'd have to check their license and insurance regulations. You also need to be aware that laws regarding motorcycles differ from state to state. Some require helmets, special training or license endorsements and others may not. If you plan to travel from New York, you'll be traversing up to eight states.

It's difficult to say what to see without knowing your interests, how much time you're planning for this trip, your budget, time of year you plan to travel and who <i>we</i> includes. Also, are you planning to stay on the Interstate highways or travel secondary roads? Do you want to see small towns, large cities, natural features? Are you planning to camp or stay in hotels? Sightsee? Hike? Swim and boat?

Flights from NYC to Chicago are as low as $135.

When we visited Antelope Canyon and Bryce Canyon, we met a group of Europeans who had rented motorcycles and were taking a road trip through several of the UT/AZ national parks, so it can be done.

How much time do you have? Are you going to Harley-Davidson in Milwaukee?

If you have the time you could go to Niagara Falls, then either drive thru Canada and re-enter at Detroit or just stay on the U.S. side and follow the lakeshore. Personally I think once you get to Gary, Indiana it would be nice to head north and follow the shore of Lake Michigan all the way around to get to Milwaukee. There's some nice beaches albeit cold water, you could make a side trip to Mackinac Island for a day, then drive thru the Upper Peninsula and down the eastern side of Wisconsin. Maybe hit Pictured Rocks in the UP and Door Country in Wisconsin on the way?

That would take a week or so I think. Otherwise a direct route from NYC to Milwaukee is just a couple days if you stick with the interstate.

Time of year matters a lot. When are you coming?

And also what type of license do you have? In NY bikes require a different license than cars (not so in all states) and helmets are also required. So I don;t know if anyone can rent you a bike in NYC without a specific bike license.

Not sure what the cost would be with insurance - but all rentals out of NY are expensive (cars are often $100 per day plus for a basic).
