from Lagaurdia to Manhattan

What is the most economical way to get from the airport to Embassy Suites in Lower Manhattan for a family of 4 adults? Thanks in advance for any help.

I would certainly think it would be a taxi. Certainly four tickets for any shuttle will cost you more than a taxi, and in addition the shuttles will take you longer.

I also suggest a taxi, which can be found right outside the terminals. I am sure you all will have luggage so it will be the easiest way to travel. Use mapquest before and discuss route with driver so they don't rip you off because you are a tourist.

We stayed by Time Square and it was $24 for a yellow taxi and $4 in tolls then add tip. The way back was within a dollar. As long as you take a yellow cab you should be fine. Just get in and give your address and say you agree to pay the tolls and he'll know you are knowledgable. We sat on the left side of the plane and had a fantastic view of the Statue of Liberty on our way in.

If you're arriving LGA during the rush, when taxi lines can be long, you might be better off reserving a car service. The price is the same (or possibly less if heavy traffic), and you can pay with credit card.

Otherwise, a cab is your best bet.

Enjoy NYC!

Since you want the most economical; it's the Bus+subway for $2 per person; purchase a Metrocard from the newsstands at baggage claim area.

But what you save in fare will cost you in time -- it will take awhile to get there, and there are a couple of bus/subway routes you could take. If you vacation time is important to you, use a taxi or car service.

Please note that this is not any sort of airport bus or train - merely the local bus and subway. There is no room for luggage (you need to either hold it on your lap or stick under your feet. If you try to get on with large suitcses the drivers might refuse you if the bus is crowded. (This can work for a teen with a weekend shoulder bag - not for people with large suitcases.)

A car service like Carmel or Tel Aviv is probably best with a flat fixed fee. That's assuming they'll give you a sedan for 4 adults. If not and they insist on a minivan, you might try Crown limo who do stretch limos that may be cheaper. 1800mycrown.com

Depending on what time you arrive, a mimivan taxi can also work. But since it's not a flat rate but on the meter, this is not a good idea around rush hour.
