Friday Nite in Pittsburgh
We are arriving at Pittsburgh International Airport on Friday evening May 30 at 5:00pm and heading to Greensburg for a tourney the next day. We have never been to the Pttsburgh area. On our drive through the city (Hwys I-376 E and I-76E) are there any good restaurants or sights we should take in? Would it be a huge hassle to try to get to the Pirates/Astros game?

Just hold onto the wheel of your car when you come thru the Ft Pitt Tunnel.
Probably one of the best views of a city next to coming out of the Treasure Island tunnel in SF. |
Not completely sure how you are heading from airport to Greensburg, but you may not even go through the city.

I would try to take in the baseball game! Great views of city and plenty of places to eat near or in the stadium. You can park downtown and walk across the bridge. They may even have fireworks--some of the best displays I have ever seen! I am not even a fan of baseball but love PNC Park.
Ditto on the drive coming out of Ft Pitt Tunnel. Worth it even if it is a bit out of your way! We usually park near PPG Place (big glass tower that looks like a castle) bc there is a city owned parking deck that is reasonable and it is easier to escape the post game traffic--the walk isn't that bad! Just look for the blue and red diamonds-- http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/pgh...d_garages.html |
If attending a game at PNC Park, there's always lots of indoor parking at Allegheny Center, and it's a very short walk to the stadium.
For first time visitors, I'd suggest parking at Station Square and taking the boat over to the stadium. |
Another option for Friday night is a visit to the Warhol Museum. Admission is half-price on Fridays from 5 - 10 pm.
