Fri-Mon anniversary getaway - need idea help please

Looking for suggestions for a 4-day weekend getaway (May 19 -22) to spend with my husband. Am having a hard time coming up with a location that won't take up too much traveling time flying from Houston, Texas and that would be enjoyable for just a short amount of time (without feeling like we wished we had another week to spend). Am also looking for a place with nice weather. Would really like to find a deal on airfare so we could splurge on the accomodations and activities. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I haven't checked Continental's routes lately, but fares aside, if I lived in Houston I'd want to go to:
Santa Fe
Aspen, CO
Grand Cayman
Los Cabos
San Diego
or maybe even Chicago.
Would depend on direct flights/layover tradeoffs, fares, etc.
What do you like to do on vacation? Active vs. relaxation? Sports vs. museums, etc.
And what time of year? I'd recommend New Orleans, but not in July, August, September.

I looked at Southwest's website (www.southwest.com) and they had discount fares to San Diego, San Francisco, and Phoenix for that weekend (amongst other places). Sedona, Arizona would be a lovely and relaxing weekend adventure. It's a beautiful place, two hours north of Phoenix. That's a good time (albeit warm!) to visit Florida as well. I'm jealous, as my trip isn't until July! Have a great time! PS I second Brian's recommendation for New Orleans as well!

Michell,

Come see us in Dallas!!! You would have a great time. Also, I'm sure you have "done" San Antonio before, if not, consider it. If I was going out of state I would choose Cozumel (Funjet has great packages from Houston), Chicago, New Orleans or any Florida destination. Tell us more about you and let's all see what we can come up with....

Jodie- tell me more about Cozumel. have you been? What did you like?

Wow! Thanks for the responses so quickly. I guess I should have specified originally, we have family in New Orleans so we've been there lots of times. For those asking for more information we are open to most anything except camping. We like museums, zoos, parks, swimming, hiking, historical sites, etc.

Marie,

Yes, we have been twice and thought it was great. Let's post over on the Latin American forum so we don't upset this thread. If you are interested, post over there and I will reply.

You might want to try the Ritz resort on Amelia Island, FL! It's absolutely top rate, and you could fly into Jacksonville then it's about an hour drive to the coast. Very romantic with great pools and beaches. We've been having fantatic weather.
