Fresh Fruit between StAug and Miami
 

Will be driving between StAugustine and Miami in next 2 weeks and we love fresh fruit. Is there a recommended "fruit stand" along this route? We have the entire day devoted to the drive and do not mind getting off the interstate at all, and would like to see an orange grove, etc.

Any suggestions?

There are a zillion places but we always stop at the giant alligator place on I-95 that says "Indian River Fruit".

Just read that and realized how vague my reply is.

The Indian River Fruit place is like a truck stop/gas station just north of Daytona Beach on I-95. They used to have the giant live alligator but now it is just a life size model.

We stopped at an Indian River stand outside of St Augustine on the right hand side of the road (coming up from Orlando) & got fruit & 2 lemon trees. It's been several years & the trees have produced lots of lemons. The "pink" lemon is really neat. The leaves are vaerigated green & white & the lemon looks striped until ripe. When you cut it open it looks pink inside instead of yellow.
The fresh fruit was great too.

Thanks alot...I will look for this place. I never thought of purchasing a fruit tree, but that sounds lots of fun!! What an added bonus.
