Frenchman Hotel?

Any comments or experience with this hotel? <BR>Sounds like a quaint place, if you're not into the big glitzy hotels. Thanks

Which city?

New Orleans - Sorry, I thought my post went to that forum/area automatically.

The Frenchmen is well located on Frenchmen Street at Esplanade. It's a cute hotel but has not gotten very good reviews on this or other travel boards because of housekeeping/maintenance issues. The rates are sometimes very low and that's a cause for concern to me as New Orleans usually has one of the nation's top five average hotel rates.

Denise, my husband and I stayed at this hotel twice first in 1984 and the second trip in 1994. The service was great both times we visited however, I have to admit that on my last visit, the overall area of the neighborhood where the Frenchman is located had gone "down" considerably over the year and as John mentioned, the maitenance and overall upkeep of the hotel had gone down too.. I have no idea what 6 years had done to the place.
