French Quarter hotel/suite 2 bedroom
 

What do you recommend for a hotel/suite with more than 1 bedroom in the French Quarter? I found the Quarter House that looked nice from the pictures online. It will be 5 people visiting, 2 rooms. We would prefer to have 2 bedrooms or a bedroom with living area with a sofabed in 1 of the rooms. Any suggestions. I have been surprised by real life vs internet photos of hotels before.<BR>Thanks

I have reservations for the Quarter House starting March 1 and can let you know after I am back. When is your trip? I have been trying to find out if the Quarter House is a good location but haven't received much information so far. I would like to know if there is a grocery mart nearby since we will have a kitchen. I will be glad to repost after the first week in March.

My wife and I are timeshare owners in the Quarter House and the two bedroom units are every bit as nice as the photos. As for location, it is inside the French Quarter and certainly within a few minutes walk to the Bourbon Street and also to the river and the attractions there.The only drawback is parking which I believe you have to use a public lot down the street. I think the Quarter House gets a discount, but you still have to pay. There is a small plunge pool,but not really suitable for swimming.

Hey Sheila or Larry, isn't there a timeshare presentation you have to attend if you stay at the Quarter House? I was considering it but put off by the high pressure sales. Please let me know, Sheila, how your stay goes because it does look nice and I'd like to consider it for a trip later this year with family.

We are staying there as an exchange from our timeshare so I am not sure about the presentation. In the past at our other exchanges, we just told them we were not interested in the presentation. You might just call them and ask if it is required for non-owners. I will be glad to report back when I return. I have a phone number on my reservation if you need it.

My family of 4 stayed at the Quarter House 2 summers ago. It was wonderful! It is very well located, in the French Quarter. The suites were decorated beautifully and were furnished with kitchen, jacuzzi tub in bathroom and a small washer and dryer. The courtyard and pool area are small but very pretty.<BR>We did attend the timeshare presentation and found it to be very low pressure. Hope this helps. Laurie

The time-share resorts are allowed to "rent" their unoccupied rooms as if they were hotel rooms. I don't think there is any way they can FORCE you to attend a presentation if you are paying for the room.<BR><BR>The Quarter House is right on the edge of the French Quarter where it turns into the Business District. The high-rise Marriot is right across the street. It is very near everything, but noise and parking could be a problem.<BR><BR>-- <BR>Patrick

The A&P, one of the few remaining grocery stores in the Quarter, is walking sidtance from the Quarter House. It is at the corner of Royal and St. Peter.<BR><BR>-- <BR>Patrick

Thanks Patrick and Laurie. We are arriving late afternoon so we wanted to pick up a few things at the grocery. I thought if we stay out late, we can make use of the kitchen and have breakfast in. Can't wait since this is my first trip to the city.

I had a very pleasant experience at Frenchmen Orleans at 519. It is owned by French Quarter Condos and has a number of vacation rental units in this newly renovated building. They were equipped with private kitchens, living area, and jacuzzi. (They do have 2 bedroom units.) All the units share a pool, spa, courtyard, and atrium. It was very lovely. And it is on Frenchmen Street which is now being recognized as the newest hot spot in New Orleans. It is only a short skip to the French Quarter borders. This area has a lot to offer with its shops, restaurants, and music halls. And it's not as noisy at night.
