French Quarter Hotel

Does anyone know about or stayed at the French Quarter Courtyard hotel on N. Rampart Street. It looks like a nice place, but I am a bit concerned about walking back from Bourbon Street at night.
Phil,

I don't know the hotel but I can tell you that I have been to New Orleans several times, always staying in the French Quarter and the only time I had any trouble walking back to my hotel was a night I had FAR too many rum & cokes! Luckily I did have my husband with me and he helped me back!

Honestly, the French Quarter is patroled well and other than pick pockets in the crowed areas we did not see anything too suspicious. By the way we stayed at the Bienville House and it was nice. (Not a Hilton, but a click above Holiday Inn). Have Fun!

I've stayed there, and while Rampart is on the outer border of the French Quarter, I didn't feel unsafe walking back to the hotel at night. Besides, it is a cheap, quick cab ride back from anywhere in the area, if you get too tired, intoxicated, or concerned about your safety to walk. Rampart itself is not so great at night, unless you want a tattoo, so I would recommend taking a cross street that will take you directly to the hotel, if you are walking -to avoid walking a stretch down Rampart itself.

The above poster gives good advice. A cab is an inexpensive fix to a poorly located French Quarter hotel. Unfortunately, I have heard bad things about that particular hotel from a local cab driver. He didn't say anything specific - just that it wasn't that great of a place to stay. There are other places in the area that might be better but in the same price range.

The hotel isn't thought of very highly locally. More so than in most cities, I find that in New Orleans you really do get what you pay for. If it's too inexpensive, beware! If you do stay on Rampart a cab is preferable but at least walk on the side streets up to Rampart, rather than down Rampart itself.
