Free WiFi Las Vegas
 

Does anyone know if there are alot of free wifi hotspots in Las Vegas?? How about at the New York New York Hotel?? Thanks.

I don't expect you'd find a lot of free WiFi on the strip in Vegas. When I stayed there last fall and was looking at hotels, nearly all of them had an extra charge for it. Clearly, they want you to go to shows in Vegas and gamble, not spend your time online.

Starbucks has free WiFi if you get a Starbucks card and register it. So, get a free card, put $5, then buy a drink and register your card and you get 2 hours (or more) of free WiFi.

Hmmm. i did't know about that Starbucks card thing..How do u register it??..

I die without my internet connection...i have an iPhone and like to check my emails frequently whether i am in Las Vegas or anywhere in the world..Infact, was just in Kathmandu and they had free WiFi everywhere, i couldn't even beleive it..And most hotels in Jordan we stayed at, if not all had free WiFi..

I am from Canada so can't use my Roger's Data Plan in the U.S. or i will be incur roaming charges which would cost a fortune!!

In my experience, the midscale chain hotels (Red Roof Inn, Hampton) are more likely to have free WiFi, and the pricier a hotel is, the more likely that they'll charge you extra for every little thing, including WiFI.

They charge big dollars for internet to discourage you from doing that instead of spending money at the tables and slots.

Virtually all the Starbucks on the Strip are franchises within the big hotels (not free-standing stores) and don't play by the regular rules. They are also about twice as expensive as a regular Starbucks.

The list that AAFrequentFlyer posted a link to is very useful, but virtually all the hotspots are off the Strip. The only one on the Strip is at the Apple Store in Fashion Show Mall ... up on the northern end, not at all close to New York New York.

I don't know this for a fact, but I suspect most of the big casino hotels don't allow Wi-Fi for security reasons.

Several of the big casino hotels do have Wi-Fi, but it's almost universally not free.

Are there any Panera Breads on the Strip or near? They have free Wi-Fi, and some McDonald's too.

Don't know about the wi-fi situation, but the Starbucks situation depends.

I went to two Starbucks last week. The one inside Treasure Island does not take Starbucks card and is more expesnive (though not quite double - I believe $4.50 for tall latte).

But the one in Mandalay Bay (actually may be officially in the Mandalay Place Mall, but is actually adjacent to the casino of Mandalay Bay, is like a regular Starbucks. With tall drinks about $3.25 - $3.50.

Both Treasure Island and Mandalay Bay are owned by MGM-Mirage, at least for the time being.

$5 for two hours?that's not free,it's not a free wifi.

Starbucks has been offering free wifi in its company-owned stores since June. No card needed, and no time limit.

Most of the hotels on the Strip are charging resort fees now. It depends on the hotel, but this usually includes bottles of water, a daily newspaper, drink coupons, and Internet access.

try the food courts- they often have wifi. and i have had the problem with starbucks- some do, some don't- the one in mandaly bay had it last year- not too far from you at NYNY
