Fredericksburg vs. Williamsburg

I would like information on Fredericksburg, VA. In particular, how does it compare to Williamsburg, in things to do, restaurants, scenic beauty, affordability, weather, etc? I love Williamsburg, but stumbled across a little bit of information on Fredericksburg on line. I looks like a lovely area and I like it's proximity to Richmond and Washington DC.

Fredericksburg is getting gradually sucked into the northern Virginia traffic/overdevelopment problem but it still has a lot to offer.

If proximity to DC is an interest for work purposes, know that despite being close, traffic makes it 1 3/4 to 2 hr commute.
