rave, all my bills are paid \:D/

jolyrogr Jan 23rd, 2004 11:05 AM

Actually at least 100 days in jail, $5750 in fines, loss of license and probation for three years, and community service. He could have seeen 11 years. He hit a motorcyclist, while speeding and running the intersection. He surrenders February 7.

CRAP YELLOW JOURNALISM 'stories' make the newspapers and television news with frightening frequency. Almost nothing positive is reported on, anymore.

My husband has less than six months to go for his bachelor's degree, YAY! (He's almost 40, and had almost decided he was too old to go back to school. I am very proud of him!)

Thank you for explaining re: Barolo (wine)! Well, even if you don't have the fire, I would crack open a bottle and slllllowly enjoy. Who needs the fire?

tracys2cents Jan 23rd, 2004 01:17 PM

Dreyers/Edys Ice Cream! Yes it still LOOKS like a half gallon, but they've taking out a whole half-pint from each container! And raised the price!

michelleNYC Jan 23rd, 2004 01:18 PM

Ok... bigger rant: the wind chill has now dropped to zero. I'm afraid to leave my office!!!

razzledazzle Jan 23rd, 2004 01:26 PM

Rave: My sympathy for those of you in the chill-so here's a little sunshine story for you all:
Played 'hooky' yesterday and trekked out to Pt.Reyes (Natn'l Seashore in Marin County,CA) to check out whales migrating from Alaska to Baja and to enjoy 55 degree weather and SUN! The lighthouse stairs were open, so we walked down the 300 steps (noting the warning at the top that the return trip was akin to ascending stairs to the top of a 30 story bldg.-I have no idea how they figured that out!) The park ranger let us into the actual lighthouse and gave as a terrific talk about the 130 yr.old, all original parts, working Fresnel lense-just like being
in a giant prism with rainbows! Spent about 45 mins. enjoying the views and
the multitude of sea lions playing in the water below. Breathtaking!

Rant: The return trip UP those 306
steps (they are numbered) was, well...
BREATH TAKING!
:-))

rant: malpractice lawyers, liars and the lying liars they represent

rave: It's official, no more Bennifer 24/7

GoTravel Jan 24th, 2004 05:06 AM

obxgirl, take your dog to another vet or if you can, take the dog to State in Raleigh. They have one of the best vet programs in the country. Get another opinion.

Rave: Forgot Bennifer is over! Whoopeee!!!! What a cluster.

obxgirl Jan 24th, 2004 07:44 AM

Thanks, Iregeo and GoTravel. We were told to wait up to 3 weeks to see if there is any improvement in her motor abilities before we put her through more tests.

Rave: She's improved slightly this morning.

Rant: Using keyboard while keeping fingers crossed for good luck is not easy!

Ani Jan 24th, 2004 07:47 AM

Thanks Obxgirl! Sorry about your doggie!

buckeyemom Jan 24th, 2004 08:12 AM

obxgirl-I know what you are going through. Our Shepherd had a tumor removed on the backside of his leg down near his paw and lab reports confirmed soft tissue carcinoma. The vet said she could not get it all because of blood vessels etc. down there. She suggested radiation treatments. The downside is they have to knock him out for radiation and they can't guarantee the results. Plus his age and size are a factor. He is 10 and about 130 lbs. Big boy. He hates the vet and has to be tranquilized every time he goes.

Razzle-I went up to the top of the Marblehead Lighthouse on Lake Erie this summer. You have to go up metal steps which are very narrow then through a narrow door. Alot of people chickened out going up when they saw the spiral with those steps. But the view was incredible!

Rant-The weather.
Rave-3 months to vacation.

razzledazzle Jan 24th, 2004 02:33 PM

Obxgirl: Keeping fingers crossed here!
Ghopper:Let me know how many whales you see!
Buckmom: That sounds like our Pt.Arena lighthouse-could you see thru
the stairs as you went higher?! I had to keep looking up on my way down!
But, the view was worth it!

buckeyemom Jan 24th, 2004 05:22 PM

Razzle-Yup, see through stairs spiraling all the way to the top. I would hate to be a "large" person trying to go up them. Marblehead is the oldest, continuous lighthouse on the Great Lakes and IMHO one of the prettiest. I love lighthouse! :-) Here's a url if you want to check it out: http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/parks/parks/marblehead.htm
