Sounds like a very special relationship, JJ5.

I LOVE Scrabble! But when I pull out the game, my family members run the other way, lol. I think it has something to do with the fact that I ALWAYS WIN, HAAAHAAA!! (I say in an evil tone).

Have a peaceful time together and I hope her surgery goes well.

It's Friday!!

Rave: The site visit to my office as part of our WBE Certification finally took place yesterday & went smoothly. Hopefully we are almost through to the end of this long process and will have our Certification soon. This will be a huge marketing advantage for my business.

Rave: Going to a New Orleans style jazz concert in Princeton tonight with DH.

Rave: Wednesday was our 3rd wedding anniversary! (but we've been togoether for 14 years.)

Rave: 77 days until St. John Vacation (not that I'm counting).

No rants this week!

Caph - will keep you and your husband in my thoughts.

Have a great weekend everyone! Trish

Caph, I've just read the other FFR&R and I'm so sorry that the news wasn't better. Good thoughts for you and your family!

Rave: A weekend at home with nothing much to do.

Rave: Daughter turns two next week.

Rant: I still weigh four pounds more than before I was pregnant with her. My goal is to lose that four pounds by Easter. Here's to a good old-fashioned Catholic Lent full of self-denial!

Rant/Rave: Helping with a Mardi Gras fundraiser tonight for Boys and Girls Club. It's important to raise the money for the Clubs but I really just want to go home and watch TV tonight.

Thanks again, everyone.

JJ5, I just wanted to thank you for your nice note on the other thread. I know you're going through so much yourself right now. Have a great time playing Scrabble. It sounds like just what the doctor ordered! Those are the the kinds of friends and fun that get you through tough times. You're very lucky to have each other.

Rant: Caph's news.

Rave: New advances in both chemotherapy and BMT techniques that will give her husband a good chance at long-term disease-free survival-- a chance he wouldn't have had years ago when my father fought lymphoma (he was disease-free when he had a massive heart attack-- and at the time of his death, it looks like it had come back).

Rant: My sister's own cancer metasteses. In her lungs. Again. She goes back into chemo, this time on more experimental regimens. One tumor is in a bad location and to attempt removal now would mean she loses one whole lung. Sure, you can live with one lung, but running around after four kids....

Rave: Her oncologists sat down with her and said they have lots of things to try, and they refuse to give up. The mets never come back anywhere else (and thankfully, never in the original site), so that gives them important clues to work with. And, they're always tiny and not too aggressive, so they can be knocked out quickly. The goal now: Get a remission and salvage at least part of the lung. It turns out she's already passed her expected life span with her cancer, so as far as we're all concerned, she's not going anywhere.

Rave: My sister's will to carry on her normal life with her kids. She gives motivational and informational speeches in her community, keeps up the carpooling and soccer-coaching, puts up with the bad hair (or no hair) weeks, and looks great, with hair or bald.

Rave: Her husband. A lot of guys would have left by now. He's more in love with her than ever.

Rant: Work is driving me nuts.

Rave: New car! I've had it three weeks today and it rocks, oh so hard.

Rave: San Francisco work/play weekend with my honey next month!! We can't wait.

Everyone have a good weekend, and for heaven's sake don't shoot your friends in the face with buckshot-- again!

Hi everyone,

I don't get here nearly as much as i'd like, between the chaos of life and my computer and handheld. But all is well and i'm blessed, which is a huge rave.

But Caph and RJW, i can't begin to tell you how much i think of you, and i always pray. Its amazing how often you come to mind. So i was really sorry to hear these latest developments. I do know however, that medical science is truly astounding in its miraculous advances, and i pray that gives you a greater sense of hope and peace. Take it a day at a time and know that MANY are praying and pulling for you!

And rjw, is your new 'baby' another convertible, in which to cruise your fab left coast? I'm soo jealous!

Hope everyone has a warm and wonderful weeekend!

Caph, I wish the best for you and your family.

mms, I've had jury duty three times. One was in Federal Court. The Hard Rock Cafe International was being sued because they had something on their menu called a Pig Sandwich! Despite an army of Hard Rock lawyers they lost and now there is no Pig Sandwich on the menu. I am so pround to have served my country to free the Pig Sandwich from a menu.

Maybe I should have explained why I put the woodchuck up a tree. The ground is frozen so I can't bury him. I could have dug him into a snow bank and waited for spring but my well-meaning dog would have draged it back to the door again and again and agian.

lol. Jorr, no need to explain. After I had my morning cup of tea, I was able to figure out that the ground is frozen solid.

One night this week, my husband came in contact with our skunk. That's right, we have a pet skunk. It lives under our deck by the base of the jaccuzi. They made eye contact, and luckily nothing else happened (if you know what I mean).

CAPH, did you ever find your cell phone? I hope your daughter is doing well.

ellen: No, this time it's a baby SUV-- a Honda CR-V SE. It has a moonroof, so I can let the sunshine in whenever I want. And don't cry for me, Argentina-- my honey has a convertible, so we can still tool down the coast, top-down and feeling the breeze in our hair.

Well, on my scalp.

Scarlett, what boy in Paris? What news is this?

seetheworld, good thing you didn't need to get out the tomato juice. I've used it on my dog when he has gotten sprayed. One time he got sprayed by some kind of animal other than a skunk. He came to the door smelling like rotten onions. It took over a week to get rid of the smell.

Rant- Got one of those late night calls that every parent dreads..Daughter was in a NYC cab and they got broadsided by an SUV running a red light. Hit and Run, to top it off.

Rave- All four girls are battered and bruised, but okay. They claim the four of them cushioned each other.

Rave- After 4 months of worrying about her in India, a NYC cab accident was not high on my list (or hers) of fears. She was so cute in that she was really concerned about the cabbie and his loss of income.

First thing my DH said, after the tears were over and we knew she was okay, " Why were you in a cab at 1 am on a Thursday night instead of home studying?" =D>

Rave: MelissaHI's condo sale closed! I so enjoyed working with her. AND WE MET RIGHT HERE ON FODORS!!

My favorite quote of the moment:

Don't look to see if you're doing it right, just dance!

Good Health and humor everyone,

Lucy

Thank goodness your daughter is okay, Lucy! How frightening to get that call!

No, I haven't found my d*&n phone! But, you know what, right now I don't really care. Amazing how something I was so obsessed about a couple of days ago no longer matters! I did, however, call to make sure that no calls had been made on it. I was hoping they'd have some miracle hint to make it ring when the battery is dead. But, of course, no such luck! I'll give it a few more days and then deal with replacing it, I guess. The carrier didn't try to pressure me into doing anything immediately. Just told me what my options are.

Caph: Everything goes into a new perspective, doesn't it?

We're all pulling for the same thing-- research to give cancer warriors long, disease-free lives. Are you in touch with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.leukemia-lymphoma.org)? They have all sorts of awareness & fundraising events.

My oldest niece is organizing a Relay for Life at her junior high school to raise money for colorectal cancer research; her Relay last year had something like 200 participants.

Rave: Disease charities. One-stop sources for information, awareness, support and fundraising. Everyone: If you can, give. In 1950, childhood leukemia was nearly 100% fatal. Now, five-year survival rates approach 90%-- when diagnosed early. We're getting results, and we've got to keep working at it!!

OK, off the soapbox....

Rant: Damn cats run around like they're on meth for about an hour after we go to bed, every night.

Rave: Then they cuddle up between us and purr and snuggle all night, the little angels....

rjw--What an inspiring story! The medical advances truly are amazing.

jorr--LOL! Do I dare ask what a pig sandwich was???

Scarlett--I will have to go read that...I haven't seen the news much this week. I know how excited you are to see your DS!

Icuy--So glad they are ok! That would be a good story for someone that is afraid to travel to other counties.

Rave: I have not previously talked about it on this board, however, for the past six weeks, a group of retired law enforcement officers I belong to has been assisting Las Vegas Police trying to identify a baby girl that was beaten to death and left in a dumpster. Despite canvassing over 3,000 homes multiple times, we had developed no solid leads to her identity. Yesterday, she was identified as the result of a missing person's report filed in California and her mother and mother's boyfriend have been arrested for the murder. The arrests won't bring her back but all of us who worked the case were afraid she might never be identified. It is like a ton of bricks lifted from our backs.
