Rant: Kybourbon's fire. So sorry to hear about it, but glad that no one was hurt.

Rave: Our Mimi is feeling better.

Rave: Mikemo closed on his house. I hope I'm next with my mother's home.

Rave: Ronkala's generosity.

Rave: In lieu of exchanging gifts with family this year, we just returned from delivering gifts to children on our island who are from broken homes. Their smiles and excitement really lit up our Christmas.

Another rave: just minutes ago I saw my resident hawk again perched in front of my kitchen window. If I believed in Santa Claus I guess I could believe it is Pale Male or his mate! But then I wouldn't want a hundred people aiming telescopes at my window.

Congrats LoveItaly!! An Abundance of Babies How wonderful!
jor, a few years ago, we had a hawk hunting over our home. The small birds all hid, one , a beautiful young cardinal, crashed into my kitchen window. I thought someone had thrown a rock, it made such a noise!
I ran outside and there, against the dark of the ground, lay this bright red bird. I mourned his dying, he was so beautiful, but I did not want him to lay there so I picked him up to give him a proper burial.
That is when I saw that he was still breathing.
I ran inside, called the Wildlife people and found that if I put him somewhere safe, he might wake from his thump to the head and fly again.
Sure enough, with my standing guard, for what seemed to be a very long time on a cold day, he moved his head, then his body then flew away.
That spring, we had a cardinal and his Mrs feeding at the feeders, later the babies came. As long as we stayed there, the cardinals did too. ( I am convinced it was the one who knocked himself silly on my window)
Now here in Florida, I heard a familiar noise outside the window, and looked out to see, a male cardinal and his Mrs, eating berries off the shrubs.
I don't care what the Yankee says, I know my cardinal followed us to Florida~
Merry Christmas~

I posted early on the alternate FFR&R so I will reiterate some things for my friends here.

May your new year be well spent with friends, family , and all loved ones. May you always be in good health. And when trials hit, may you always be surrounded by loving friends such as our Fodors family.

Peace be with us...

Martha

PS Just saw 'The Polar Express'. Geat movie!

Message: Rave: Off to an early start to visit family this Christmas Eve Day.

Rave: My boys finished their semesters at college and they are relieved to be home for some TLC.

Rave: Spending a quiet Christmas Day at home making everyone's favorite meal, rouladen and dumplings.

Rave: The rain has stopped and a blast of cold air has hit us. Yes, it feels like Christmas

Rant: Watching a son struggling with difficult life decisions makes a mother want to cry.

Rant: Kybourbon, how terrible. I'm very glad no one was hurt. Peace to you and yours this holiday.

It's been nice getting *to know* many of you on Fodors. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

The holidays can be a difficult time for many. May peace and pleasant memories fill your hearts and may 2005 bring many happy travels with new friends, adventures and discoveries.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night

Scarlett, a good lesson learned. A woodpecker flew into my window and layed there "dead" for a half hour while I put my dog inside. Sure enough he came-to and flew away.

Rave: Woke up early this morning to see the most gorgeous, golden harvest moon I haven't seen in many years in So. Pennsylvania and saw tonight, such a lovely, white full moon. It guided me to my Love's home.
Merry Christmas to all Fodorites!

I'm late, but I'm here:

RANT: So sorry, Kybourbon, about the fire. Thinking of you and your family........

RAVE: It snowed in Raleigh overnight...... a real rarity here!

RAVE: A fabulous Christmas with my amazing 7-yr. old granddaughter, and her parents. She'll be here two more nights....... what a miracle she is! (I swear you may see her as the next Michelle Kwan in the Olympics in a few years!!! )

RAVE: All my Fodorite friends here..... you're all wonderful! Love you guys! Hope you have all had a splendid Christmas, and that 2005 will be your best year yet.

RAVE: Lost my 33rd & 34th pound today! Next year I'm going to lose that much, at least, again....

GoTravel, I'm thinking of you and your dear kitties......... these little animals are truly our best friends!

Cheers, everybody!
