AAACCCKKK...I give up!!!!
That's supposed to be typographical!!! I'll stop now!

JJ5 Aug 27th, 2005 04:49 AM

Thanks, highbay- we need more nurses just like you- not less. And they deserve great pay and an appropriate workload, not an overload.

Rant: My Michigan neighbors who have been in Battle Creek all week still do not have the final answer from BRAC on their base. This base is one of the very last to get word about its fate although the BRAC people have come back to view it again and again. Maybe there is hope, and in a three county area it is lead on tv almost 24/7. It is the only and definitive mechanical home of the A-10 Warthog, a plane that has been and IS a work horse for the USA. They were supposed to get a definitive answer by 8/26 by the scheduling. If it's closed the entire shebang will have to move 125 miles east at a cost that is too long to type. It means 275 jobs and two towns basically go under as well. FDR must be rolling in his grave.

Rave: Have a great day all, and we'll be thinking of the Fodors folks in the UK ... time is growing short. Ciao.

mm,
I live in Central Mexico, but "Pork" is the same here. Unfortunately, as a gringo, I have no political voice.

45 years of Federal income tax payments and my 11 + years of commissioned service (8 1/2 active duty) in the USN do however permit me to criticize US governmental waste at all levels.

Sorry, couldn't get to a computer on Friday.

RANT: Had to abruptly find a specialist for my youngest son. He has been diagnosed with hypothyroid disease which will require life-long synthetic hormone therapy. Doctor will let us wait 3 months before beginning treatment (since he is asyptomatic). This will give us time for a second opinion and to wrap our heads around this news.

My boy starts school on Monday - timing sucks.

I haven't had time to read everyone's Rants and Raves - forgive me, please.

Wishing you all well.

Ani, I saw that thread and posted on it. Some people are just overwhelmed with self righteousness now and then, ignore them :)
I hope you have , I know you will have ... a great time. Enjoy and just think, someday R can post on Fodors that she took her first trip to Europe before she was 2 years old!! :D

neworleanslady Aug 27th, 2005 02:34 PM

It's Saturday, but oh well.

Meesthare, so sorry to hear about your kitty. It makes me so thankful to have Cat still around after having the same illness. I can remember every heartbreaking moment of that time and am happy to have had another 6 years with her - as she snores her fat lady snore under my chair.

Rant: Hurricanes. They are talking Category 5 - OMG!!!

Rant: Heat. Heat index 103 right now.

RAVE: Leaving for my first trip to Europe on Wednesday. I'd like to say come hell or high water, but I don't know if that's appropriate right now! I might be driving to Dallas for my connection due to both.

Rave: Dinner w/ BF tonight though our friends are preparing for the storm and not able to join us as planned.

Wishing everyone along the Gulf Coast a safe week. And those who will deal with the rains as it moves North.

smoot60 Aug 27th, 2005 02:40 PM

Rave: Football season in only one week away. Tired of hot southern summers and ready for some football.
High school, college (Go Vols!) or Pro, all will be great.

Rant: Freshman daughter. I love her, but being 14 sucks.

Rant: GWB, always and forever

Rave: Great husband and friends, couldn't ask for more.

boring yawn, someone who is concerned with the lives of American soldiers is not a jerk. Someone who blindly supports sending men off to a war based on lies (WMD), misinformation (Saddam looking for plutonium in Africa), and catchy slogans from the Reagan era (Stay The Course) without a clue is a jerk. Fortunately 60% of Americans no longer support George Bush and it is mostly because of his war in Iraq. Nough said.

Yawn_boring Aug 27th, 2005 03:49 PM

wemr,

uh ... no, not exactly enough said.

someone who ridicules brave young Americans who saddle up and do the dirty business for the rest of us should not be insulted by the travel class. blindly? I think you ought to look in the mirror if you want to know what a jerk looks like.

LoveItaly Aug 27th, 2005 04:06 PM

Hello seetheworld, I am wishing you and your son well. I am so sorry about his medical situation. Big hugs to you. Best wishes to you and all your family. Take good care.

wemr Aug 27th, 2005 04:50 PM

They are doing the dirty work for King George II and his band of losers, liars, and oil barrons.

Yawn_boring Aug 27th, 2005 04:58 PM

wemr, oh yeah, the war was all oil. that's what you said. and oil prices are at a record high. you are pathetic and sad. "king george"? grow up alreay and make some sort of arguable point!

PamSF Aug 27th, 2005 05:00 PM

seetheworld~your son will feel significantly better even if he is not "symptomatic" with synthroid on board. His "values" must be very borderline if the MD is waiting 3 months..the only complication I've noticed is it's a blight on insurance applications. Otherwise, he should be able to live his life well and far more happily with this recognized sooner rather than later.

wemr:I love you.

wemr Aug 27th, 2005 05:32 PM

Boring Yawn, You have a very strange way of totally misinterpeting what someone says. Where on earth did you get the bone headed idea that I am ridiculing our troops? I probabaly care more about them than you. You are nothing but a chicken hawk. Do I have to explain that to you also?

Yawn_boring Aug 27th, 2005 05:37 PM

wemr, yeah, go ahead and explain that to me. you're not a chicken hawk, you're a chicken-chicken.

Your insulting views are quite clear. you think the Iraq war is about oil (HELLO!), which is hugely insulting to all those fighting.

If, in fact, you have some coherent arguement, I would love to hear it! otherwise you sound like the nutcase panhandling on the corner.

wemr Aug 27th, 2005 05:56 PM

A chicken-chicken? If you get any more boozed up you might fall off your chair. Have one for me.

RnRforever Aug 27th, 2005 07:27 PM

... isn't GHB still on vacation in TX ... and still no time for Mrs. Sheehan. He's a strange one alright. The USA certainly is capable fo some bad choices. Maybe it's not about oil but instead about his small brain. Ciao!
