Pressure washed the patio/pool/fence areas today. I cooked him a nice Lamb casserole in honor of St. Patty's day (recipe from a member of another board). Rant: DS damaged his car dodging a dog....another 800+ down the drain...when will I be able to save some travel money?? Rave: At least DS is unharmed! Rant: DH got attacked by a bobcat while turkey hunting yesterday! The thing sneaked up on him from behind and pounced on him really hard... Rave: No real injury, just a sore neck from being hit hard from behind. As soon as it saw that he WASN'T a hen, it was outta there! A young neighbor boy had gone with DH ( a second time event for him) got a good laugh from it all! |
A big rave to the George Mason Patriots for their upset over Michigan State. Can they do it to the Tar Heels also?
Rant: We had to give up our GMU season tickets when we moved to the Valley. We kept them for the first year here, but it turned out to be to much of a drive RT. |
Rant: my grandmother is in the hospital and having episodes of serious dimentia.

LoveItaly, Sounds like you picked a winner. I feel like I got lucky too. The painter took a long time to paint the house but did a great job. Contractors are very hard to get around here. Can't figure it out. the last contractor I had got thirty seven $100 bills counted into his hand. Maybe thats the insentive it takes for them to come back! Did you use that new paint called Duration from Sherwin Williams?

Hi jorr, yes that was one reason I chose this company. I had made a note as to what you said and before I asked him if he would be willing to use the paint you recommended he told me what paint he preferred, and it was the paint you used. He really is a terrific man and businessperson. That sure took some stress off of us as the jerk that I hired to paint the interior turned out to be on drugs. Had to fire him halfway through the job, that was not a pleasant scene as you can imagine. Finally had PD come..so he left of course but I worried about retaliation for about a month. Sort of like your situation with the postman.

Rave: My friend's new show debuted today on the Travel Channel for a very untravel related Pro Poker Tour. She's a producer for the show and she's real excited! One tiny rant: my dad, who isn't supposed to eat shellfish of any kind, didn't listen to that advice and ate a <b>WHOLE FREAKING BAG OF CRABMEAT!!!</b> Now, I have to wait on him hand and foot as his left leg is too swollen for him to get up for a drink of water. ARGH!!! |
Oh my gosh...mcnyc...I read your post and had a chuckle! While congrats to your friend are definately in order,I immediately thought about the post "Who else is disgusted with the Travel Channel". The long standing post that doesn't die because of everyone being so against the Poker Tour on the channel..Lol! Sorry about your Dad...that's gotta hurt(or itch) a bit!

Good grief, mcnyc, did your father's throat swell up too? That crab could have killed him, seriously, as you probably know. Sure hope he quickly recovers and has learned his lesson, I assume he knew he was eating crab. Best wishes to you.

Late Rave: Just found out that New York Magazine named one of DIL's restaurants (202) "Best Brunch in NYC".
Her new book will be released about 1 May with a gala reception and she has pending interviews with Gourmet Magazine and CBS's Good Morning America. Wow. M |

Hi LoveItaly, he doesn't have allergies, thank goodness. But he does have gout, and he's been warned many times that he should lay off the shellfish lest it flares up his gout. Of course, he can't help it and had to eat the bag of real crab meat. No imitation crab meat for him, which was <b>meant</b> for him. I hope the delicious real crab meat was well worth the pain he's suffering now.
He did this before our trip to Italy last year, but with shrimp. We've told him if he eats any shellfish before our vacation in June, he will be left behind at home! With the dog! |

Oh mcnyc, gout..well as horrible as his pain must be thank goodness it is not a shellfish allergy. I would hope he has learned his lesson, but I have a family member that use to "cheat" all the time regarding "no no" foods. Finally he got the message I guess. Thanks for writing back and sure sorry you are having to put up with this. Take good care.

mcnyc, One time I bought a bottle of Thiamin tablets as a suppliment. After taking the first tablet I puffed up and turned sun burn red all over. My hands were so swollen I couldn't move my fingers. It was very painful and I looked in the mirror and saw a big red puffed-up monster. I called for an ambulance because I thought I was going to die. It scared the hell out of me! Now all of my medical records say THIAMIN in big colored letters.
Your dad's was not an alergy but I hope he learned his lesson. |

Whew! What a week! I am now finally able to do the FFRR--and it's Tuesday!
MAJOR RAVE--CAPH!!! I am so sincerely happy and relieved for you. Enjoy all the time you can with each other. You deserve that trip to Ireland. Savor every moment. Rave--Again, all the love and support I've received from friends and family. My mom's friends from high school, college, work, etc. have been coming out of the woodwork offering to help and give support. It's amazing to see how many lives she has touched. Rave--Spring Break last week. DH, DS, and I spent ten blissful days all together. It was such a blessing after all that has been happening. Rant--I miss my mom so much more than I thought I would. It's not getting much easier... RAVE--One of my students came on Friday and re-did my whole front lawn's flower beds. He wants to start his own business, and he gave me a major discount for all the plants, trees, and flowers. Plus the nursery where he works donated a crape myrtle in honor of my mom. It looks so good, and I know that my mom is smiling from heaven. :-) Rave--DH prepared a 6-course Italian feast for me and all our relatives in honor of my birthday. Yummy. Tiny little rant--I've gained about five pounds in the last week...ugh. But it was all worth it! Scarlett--Happy B-day! klr--Single motherhood is tough. I did it for a while, and I know how hard it is to balance everything. I'm praying for you. OWJ--IEP's suck, don't they??? I just love teaching, but I'd have to say that one thing I can't stand about it is all the paperwork! marigross--Looooove Switzerland. One of my favorite places in the world! wagon--Let us know how you and your family do at Disneyworld. I hope to take DS there sometime soon. P_M--hope you had a good weekend in D/FW despite all the rain. JJ5--Hope everything turns around for you. Glad your BF is doing better. Tess--You made me laugh!
