Franklin, TN
 

I will be traveling to Franklin for the weekend and I am hoping to get some restaurant suggestions. I would like a suggestion for dinner that would be in the $25 range for entrees. We like all kinds of food so we are not limiting ourselves to a particular type. We will be playing golf on Friday so a suggestion for a fun casual place for dinner would be great also. If anyone has some suggestions for lunch places, that would be great too.
I know there are several antique places in Franklin. Are some better than others? Are there other shopping areas? We will not be interested in mall shopping.
Any other ideas of things to do in the area would be appreciated too. Thank you

Although I have day-tripped a couple of times in and around Franklin, no restaurants stand out...sorry!

As for shopping, The Factory at Franklin is fun...a former stove factory converted into a shopping destination. As I recall, it is mostly small, locally owned shops, plus the building and its history are cool.

Downtown Franklin is charming...think old time main street shops, businesses and restaurants. Enjoy!

Caveat: I'm in Nashville, but am hardly ever in Franklin, so don't have personal experience, but I have heard good things about Gray's on Main and Cork & Cow in that price range.

For more casual local spots, Frothy Monkey (coffee shop) and Five Daughters Bakery (really amazing doughnuts) both have branches in downtown Franklin and are totally worth a stop. The last time I was there (it's been awhile), McCreary's pub had really great fish & chips.

If you go a bit north to Cool Springs, you have a huge number of options in addition to those in downtown Franklin - chains and a few local places. Sopapilla's (New Mexican food) is a good one in that area, and out of the main Cool Springs traffic. (If you're golfing at the Legends course, it's easy access from there, just up Franklin Road/highway 31.) There's also a branch of Tupelo Honey Cafe that opened in Cool Springs fairly recently - Tupelo Honey started in Asheville and has been opening locations in several cities in Tennessee in the last year or two.

Sorry, I'm no use on antiques!

I was in Franklin last year and ate at The Red Pony. Food and service was excellent. Will be back in Franklin in October and can't wait to eat here again. I am craving their shrimp 'n grits!! Entrees may be a bit more expensive. There is also a restaurant across the street on the corner where we ate breakfast, other meals are served as well. The name escapes me, I will ask my friend she may recall the name. Yes, Franklin is a very charming town and great shops.
