Four Seasons VS Ritz in Maui

We are headed to Maui end of Sept for our honeymoon. I am nervous about the construction at the Four Seasons and have considered changing our reservation to the Ritz in Maui. Any feedback would be helpful especially about
weather (I've heard more rain and windy)
accomodations/rooms/food/pool/beach
distance from sights
Thanks!!

This one's been over-debated and 1,000 threads on the topic can be found but here goes:

I honeymooned at the Ritz and loved it. I didn't find it windy at all and D.T. Flemming Beach where the Ritz is located is fantastic with nice waves, and Kapalua Bay beach which has been ranked the best in the US in years past is a walk away. Sansei, the best place to eat in all of Maui is similarly close. I am not fond of Wailea, particularly how the hotels are stacked one on top of another. But the 4S is beautiful and I don't think you'll go wrong either way. I did notice more kids at the 4S also. The only valid complaint I can verify about the Ritz is that it doesn't look like a "Hawaiian hotel" but that didn't bother me...when you have a view of the most beautiful and private part of Maui, who cares if the marble bath looks like the same one you might find at a Ritz in Chicago?

Also, upon arrival, we were upgraded to the concierge floor at the Ritz when they learned it was our honeymoon.

Did you see the recent Travel and Leisure rating of hotels in Maui (posted here past 2 weeks)?

Notice how far down the list the Ritz landed?
Notice the Four Seasons?

That should say plenty.

Two words: construction alert!

Stayed at the Ritz last week and loved it. Can't see how you could go wrong.

I have stayed at both and it is a toss up as to which one is the best. I liked them both. My husband liked the Four Seasons the best, and I liked the Ritz better. I liked being close to Lahaina. I felt too far away at the Four Seasons. You can't go wrong with either one!!

I went hotel hopping the last time I went to Maui. The Ritz was nice but a bit too stuffy for me - didn't have the Hawaii feel either. I prefer the Four Seasons or the Grand Wailea.

I stayed at the Four Seasons (during construction) during our honeymoon recently.

I LOVED the hotel. My favorite hotel ever. The beach was probably the nicest beach I've ever been to in the entire world. Great snorkling, even scuba right off the beach. Low waves, great temperature, and that sand is so luxurious.

The Four Seasons struck me as a hotel where the "whole" was greater than the sum of the parts. The hotel simply oozed romance, and we loved how EVERYTHING was complementary, from tennis to cabanas to snorkle equipment.
