Four Seasons Rancho Encantado Santa Fe is one of many MANY lovely resorts to choose from in The City Different. You won't be disappointed. You will find that a week will not be enough because there is so much to do, see, and experience in Santa Fe. This is why visitors keep coming back! Actually, though Santa Fe has many great hotels, inns and B and Bs- there are 4 acutal resorts, one in town and 3 to the north. If you want to be out of town, Encantado is a great resort (going back to Auberge days. As Four Seasons runs great properties, I'm sire it's still a luxury property. Depending on your interests, I'm sure you can keep busy for a week.

I stayed there w/a girlfriend for 3 nights in Oct. this yr. for her birthday. We stayed in a casita- we upgraded because we really needed two beds and it is the only room type w/two beds (I believe queens), everything else had only one king bed. Casita was on the ground floor and did not have a good view as it seemed many of the other casitas did, unfortunately. My friend paid for us and it was about $550 a night w/o tax. We really wished we had an upstairs rm, but there were none w/two beds upstairs; we got tired of hearing people upstairs all the time.
I think Four Seasons had just taken this poperty over from another co. and refurbished it shortly before we arrived. We had a couple of quirks and gliches with the rm. but those were remedied (and we got a comp. fruit and cheese plate sent up due to those). Our patio had a loosely woven fence to block us from the room next to us, although we could hear the people out on their patio next to us even when we were in the rm. w/door closed. I wished we had stayed there later in the fall/winter so we could have taken advantage of the kiva fireplace.
The hotel is not in Santa Fe, it is about 10 miles or so outside. They had a shuttle but we had a car. We went into SF during the days, and came back to the hotel late in the day. Two out of 3 nights we decided not to go back in town for dinner (10 miles starts to sounds far once you get to the property). Food was very good (room service dinner on the patio one night, dining rm one night, both very good). I do remember a duck dish one night and a solid grade of A.
We used the spa once for massages (I think around $175 for 50 min) and facial (higher for a bit longer than an hr.). Friend added an extra on to her facial which she didn't think was worth the additional amt, which was substantialIt is pricey as is to be expected for Fo. ur Seasons. If we hadn't been a ways from town we probably would have gone to a lesser priced place in town for massage, as there are some good places in town and at 10,000 Waves, but we were too lazy. THe spa is kind of "zen" flavor.
This place reminded me of some other destination spas in the Southwest like Starwood's Wild Horse Pass just outside of Phoenix, or ENchantment in Sedona. But it is more like the former than latter because it is more relaxed, esp. the workers. No pretenses. BUt surprisingly they didn't call us by name as is typical in Four Seasons (they usually call you by name at every encounter w/any employee, i think they must be trained).
We did a lot of walking from place to place on the resort grounds. It was nice, but very pricey. On my own dime I prefer staying in town where there are great moderately priced and more expensive luxury places to stay and we can be closer to the offerings of SF.
