four seasons santa barbara - worth the $$$$??

i've heard you can hear trains and the hotel said they are renovating rooms - is it still worth going?

Message: Message: I don't recall hearing trains when we have stayed there. It is not in an industrial area, but right across from the ocean. If there are train tracks behind the resort, there are probably only a few trains a day coming from LA or SF. As for renovating rooms, they probably only do one building at a time, so it should not be bothersome to where they put you. The hotel is fantastic, don't miss the opportunity to stay there. It's in a quiet place, the grounds are beautiful.

It's actually a few minutes south of Santa Barbara in Montecito, isn't it?

Yes, it is in Montecito. We had lunch there at The Patio and toured the grounds a bit. It is absolutely gorgeous, we will probably stay here next trip to SB. :D

Truly a first-class property in a beautiful setting. ***kim*** ((l))

Hi rebeca,
Worth the $$$ ? well only you can decide that. Yes it is a gorgeous setting. Yes it is across from the ocean. Yes the Patio restaurant is good.
But take my word for it, you can hear the trains, and yes, they do run at night.
If you do choose the hotel, IMHO you should definitly stay in one of the bungalow rooms. They are Much nicer than the rooms in the main building. The rooms are larger, and I think, prettier.
But,again, they are closer to the RR tracks. We have stayed there many times over the years, in the bungalow rooms. We jsut accept the trains as part of the charm.. But only you can decide if it is worth it to you.
Good luck.
minnie.
