Four Seasons, Las Vegas-Pros/Cons

We are planning a trip to Las Vegas in September. I would like to know if anyone has stayed at the Four Seasons? How were the rooms, service and pool area? Would you recommend this hotel to others? Also, can anyone make a comparison of this hotel to Bellagio?

Stayed at the Four Seasons LV 2 weeks ago. Very disappointed (see recent post). Rooms OK, not above average, not up to the standard of other 4S properties. Service OK. Compared to the better rooms at Bellagio? I'd give the 3 rooms I've stayed in at Bellagio an average of 9-9.5 out of 10. Four Seasons: 4-5 out of 10.

Greetings - Moving this to the top to see if anyone else has stayed recently. We were thinking of trying it out. :-)

I've stayed there and would recommend it only if you get a really competitive rate. That is, if you get a quote, say, 60% of Bellagio or 90% of Mandalay Bay, that would be worth committing to. Not anywhere as nice as Venetian (room-wise) or Bellagio. Pool is small, but you get access to Mandalay's.

We were planning a trip to Las Vegas last year and ended up in Texas instead but I found the following website very helpful: www.atozlasvegas.com/hotels/rate-st.html They have ratings for rooms, service, casino, value and location as well as questions on whether you would go there again and whether it's a kid friendly hotel plus comments. The ratings and comments are done by people who (purportedly) have stayed there. My only thought on some of the comments is that a lot of times people don't respond unless they feel strongly one way or another i.e. they had a really bad time or a really good one.

Hi Again - Well, it looks like there are some varying opinions on this. Other places I've read, and from things I've heard from other people, the Four Seasons group is usually one of the best places to stay. It's the only 5 star hotel in Vegas so it seems it can't be all bad. The rate my husband found was $130 per night for July 3rd. We went ahead and booked it. For that price, might as well try it! We stayed at Mandalay last month and were very pleased. I was hoping that the Four Seasons rooms would be nicer than Mandalays (which were pretty nice) but if not, cest la vie! :-)

My point, Lynn, is that the Four Seasons in LV is NOT on par with other properties in the chain. So I wouldn't generalize by the chain's reputation. That said, if Mandalay is around $130, no problem. If Mandalay is less, I'm betting you'll be disappointed when you compare the two. When the Four Seasons opened, standard room rates were as high as $450 on weekends. Now you go stay there and tell me if that's not a complete joke. They were banking on reputation. Please let us know what you think after you go. Have fun.

Hi - Gary, I will do just that. My husband and I have never stayed at a 4S but I can assure you that I'll get back on this thread and tell everyone my opinion about the room. I must admit, it would be difficult for me to ever spend $450 on a room no matter where it is. Even if it is very nice, I doubt that I would deem it worth that amount of money. Hence, that's why we're staying there for $130. We usually spend between $50 - $150 depending on where we are and what we're doing. Last year while we were in Bangkok we stayed a few night at the Oriental. $300 a night and amazing. The service was incredible. Turndown service, fresh fruit and newspaper in the morning, butler service, welcome drink, etc. It was a great experience but it just seems like a waste when you're hardly in your room. Just back from FS. We stayed at the Four Seasons on Monday, July 3rd at a corporate rate of $130. For $130, it is a steal. Would I pay $400? No. The standard minimum room (which we got for our $130) is about the same size as the Mandalay Bay room although the MB bathroom was actually slightly bigger. It had two sinks and a longer counter. Both had separate tub and shower. FS had marble over the floor and 1/3 up the wall. The FS room had a few extra touches such as coffee maker and toaster but these are minor. The big difference in the room was the bed. One of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. It might have been even a little better than the one we had at the Oriental in Bangkok last year. I hear that the suites are much nicer. I hear people say the same about Bellagio. Standard rooms O.K., suites much, much better. I don't know. Haven't stayed in either of these suites. For us, the best thing about FS was the attitude and demeanor of the staff and the service around the pool. Amazing! We didn't have the most expensive room but down at the pool we sure felt like it! When we first went down after we checked in we ordered a couple of drinks and then went to the hottub. We thought they would put them in our cabana (private cabana with ceiling fan and inhouse phone - no extra cost, first come first served) but they tracked us down to ask us if we wanted them in the cabana, or, at the spa. This was great. They really went out of thier way (which they're supposed to do) to make sure we got what we wanted. And, they weren't too expensive either. They also come around with ice water, orange slices, cucumber slices (for your eyes), very cold washcloths that smell like herbs, and one guy comes around with cans of Evian water to "spritz" you. It was truly incredible. All in all, I would not spend $400 on a basic room here. If I could get a nice suite for $400, I would consider it. For the standard room, I think $200-$250 should be the max. If I could get this rate (or less!) I would be back in a second. However, if it's winter and you can't enjoy the pool, I would probably lower that to under $200. The pool was really a major part of our enjoyment even though we aren't sunworshipers. That's what I loved about the cabana's. You could sit in the very comfortable, padded lounge chairs and be "outside" without being in the sun. Very nice. They also have misters just outside each cabana. The concierge was also very helpful in making reservations. We called down and she made arrangements and called us back to confirm. Of course, they're supposed to do this. She was very nice. By the way, we had dinner at Drai's and it was excellent. Very elegant/casual chic. Lots of candles, potted palms, velvet curtains and cheetah print upholstery on the boths. Loved it! Let me know if anyone has any questions. :-)

Lynn: excellent review of your stay at the FS Las Vegas. I definitely agree with your point that the one thing that sets all FS properties apart is attitude/service. I think your $$ estimates for what's fair/reasonable at the FS LV are not too far off. I guess I'd subtract a few $$, but same ballpark. As for my favorite Four Seasons: Paris (George V) which we were at just after a year long closing for complete refurb last year Milan (in an old monastery, very unique) Chicago: great location, amazing views from the SW rooms during holiday season (45 stories above Michigan avenue) Maui: no need to elaborate Boston: very nice location if you can get a room overlooking the Boston Common. Four Seasons really does things right. Mandarin Oriental and Peninsula are its only peers IMO. Glad you had a great trip! Getting a 'good deal' makes it all the more enjoyable.

Lynn I found your post on your review. Thank you for a very well written one. We are staying at the FS in Vegas in August. Can't wait. I have stayed at the FS in Newport Beach, CA and it was wonderful. Looking forward to my stay.

$130 a night for the 4S is a steal, take it immediately! If you have the chance, see if you can upgrade to the Four Seasons Room. We had one of these rooms during our stay and it was unbelievable! Venetian, Mandalay, Bellagio etc. don't have anything on this wonderful property. Between the quiet elegance and perfection of the 4S, combined with the very Vegas-ish, fun Mandalay, staying at the 4S makes for the best of both worlds.

My husband and I are staying at the Four Seasons from Aug 8-11th. I've read all the comments and heard the same feedback from friends, it is supposed to be great, I guess we will see. As my husband is a travel agent, we get a huge discount and can justify the costs. Who else is staying there at the same time?

I'll be in room 3663 as I always am when lovely ladies such as yourself are in town, Kym. Call the front desk and ask for Mr. Romance. PS: that bird that flew into my nose last year hasn't had any effect on my looks. Still as beautiful as before. PPS: wear white satin. That's my favorite.
