Four ladies looking for a good time

I am looking for some suggestions of where a group of four ladies could go for 4-5 days in May 2002. We are a group of friends who recently have decided to travel somewhere every other year. Our first trip was in 2000 to Vegas (great time had by all) and we had planned to travel to New York in 2002. One of the ladies is uncomfortable traveling to New York now and would prefer going somewhere else. I do not share her apprehension but want to go somewhere where ALL of us can relax and enjoy. Any suggestions from seasoned travelers of great places to go would be appreciated.

Where is your location? Do you want to fly? Do you want outdoor or indoor attractions? Do you want city or rural?
We are located in Minneapolis, flying is okay, seeing the sights or just relaxing, and either city or rural is fine.

Even though San Francisco has taken some criticism on this board recently, it's still my second favorite city, after NY, to visit. Great city and a trip to wine country is always fun.

How about New Orleans? Seems perfect for your group. Good food, good music and great fun.

New Orleans! My mom and I did a ladies weekend over Memorial Day a couple years ago and had a fantastic time. We stayed at a great B&B and wandered all over the French Quarter, ate until we could barely walk, took the streetcar through the Garden District, and just relaxed in our room which had a great view over the roofs of the FQ. We also did a half-day swamp tour which was great fun. If you like nightlife, you can find some amazing music in the FQ. You can't help but enjoy it, even if you're not a big blues fan. My mom is the world's biggest prude (also from MN - Duluth), and she even loved going to the bars.

SF would also be great, but I found NO to be magical.
New Orleans is fun, but I don't know what anyone would do there after two days.

How about Boston?

Here's another vote for New Orleans. If you liked Las Vegas, you'll LOVE New Orleans!!! Wonderful hotels, the best food in the world, and enough tourist activities to keep you busy a long time.

Terre Haute is relatively close with plenty of attractions.

Deb - How about Toronto?... Toronto offers first class shopping, broadway shows, five star hotels, and your US dollar is worth $1.60. You can also side trip to the beautiful Niagara Wine country or even Niagara Falls for some Casino fun and sightseeing.... you might also prefer the european touch of Montreal or Quebec City...

I do a trip every year also with a group of girlfriends...we've done Savannah twice, Boston once, Hilton Head once, and this year a 3 night cruise. Loved all of them except Hilton Head (too many gated communities). I'd try Savannah! We stay at the Days Inn, they have a couple of two bedroom units with loft, great location, you can walk all over, great restaurants!

#1 Toronto: great value for American $$, great food, theatre, entertainment, diversity.
Chicago, Savannah, Boston, Clearwater Beach, Portland ME and environs.
Let us know where you went and how it was.

I can't believe someone said there's nothing to do in New Orleans after 2 days. I was there for 7 days last year and can't wait to go back! Get out of the French Quarter after a couple of days and visit the other attractions and neighborhoods!

I vote for New Orleans as well. I was there this past May with three girlfriends and we had a great time.

We were only there for 2 days and we didn't get to see as much as we would have liked.

Have Fun!

Corny as this may sound, I actually think every American should visit Washington DC, to see their capitol, the seat of government, the collections of the Smithsonian, the monuments, etc. So in this time of renewed patriotism, DC would be my suggestion.
